I and my daughter loved Journeyman. It was awesome, excellent writing, acting, stories, very real. The fact thta he could make changes in the past made it especially interesting. There was a following because there was an online effort to get the network to bring it back to no avail. Have not yet seen TTW but will. It WILL indeed be different form Journeyman, partly because other than changing the past, there were hints there was a time machine somewhere being used and he was selected as the traveler becuase of something about his birthday or something. I’m guessing one reason why Journeyman didn’t make it was it wasn’t given a chance. The movie “Pilot” for this one, plus the book following will probably make this one fair better.
Journeyman & Time Traveler’s Wife only have time travel in common. They are two very different stories. TTW is a good movie but doesn’t have enough story to build a series on. JM was one of the best shows on TV in years! It had a great plot line. The characters were real and had depth. NBC left us hanging w/o any closure on the story. It was canceled because of
the writer’s strike not because it wasn’t a good show. They didn’t give it a chance. I think it was a VERY stupid decision. Why doesn’t ABC pick up JM where it left off? I know my house would be watching! My husband & I still talk about JM & what was going to be the story behind his “traveling”.
Deloreans and killer robots! And occasional temporal rifts in space leading to convoluted stories about Tasha Yar and Romulans.
I saw the movie; it was good, but Journeyman was much better, much more interesting with some other stuff going on in the story besides the love angle. The movie seemed to be about him travelling somewhere and locating clothing… then he would pop back. No explanation about why he travelled (and he never seemed to do anything when he was there). Also, there was backstory… an old girlfriend, a brother, etc. etc. They would be better off bringing back Journeyman. Oh well, another tv series about time travel that will only last one season.
