'The Wolfman' trailer: Ho-oowl will Benicio Del Toro stack up against other werewolves?

Categories: Movie Trailers

Benicio Del Toro’s Werewolf Bar Mitzvah Wolfman trailer is finally here. Emily Blunt, Anthony Hopkins, Del Toro; it seems like a gimme, but this trailer makes it look like an old-timey Wolverine to me. He doesn’t want to be transformed! He breaks through restraints! He has superstrength! A pale lady is there! Hoo-ooowl!

Remus Lupin? Oz from Buffy? Teen Wolf? Where will The Wolfman rank?

well, of course he doesn’t want to be changed? who wants to turn into a wolk, kill people and be chased to be killed?
I did not find it similar to Wolverine at all

“An old timey Wolverine?” This movie looks scary as hell!

    • Krymnal

you’re an idiot. i’m pretty sure wolverine was supposed to be a wolverine and not a werewolf. you jackass.

      • Elisabeth

How is what Maureen said making her look like a jackass? It looked like she was just quoting whatever the writer said. I’m afraid to tell you that you look like the idiot.

Is there any way we can kill the annoying blogger trend of typing something that’s “funny,” only to have it “crossed out” in favor of the actual word? It was cute when Defamer first did it; now, not so much.

  • Hux

I’m pleasantly surprised…it looks far more interesting than the “Wolf”-like Jack Nicholson awful excuse for a movie I was expecting.

  • Dinosaur

This looks scary in the way “Sleepy Hollow” was scary. Old-timey goodness … I hope they get it right.

    • JCK

Dinosaur – 100% agree with you. I loved Sleepy Hollow as much for the eerie cinematography as the story and acting. I immediately thought of that when they were showing the Village and the forest scenes.

I think it looks like it will be good!

    • Vicky

I was thinking the same thing too!

      • Amelia

I agree with you too. It looks good!

  • Dee

I would watch anything with Benicio Del Toro!

  • Greg

This looks like they are staying true to the Lon Chaney Jr classic. Did I see a February release date? What’s up with that? This would be perfect for a Halloween release.

More “The Howling” or “Silver Bullet” than any of the werewolves listed above. The cast is fantastic, I’m really looking forward to seeing this.

    looks major boring

  • wg

Wow – I was really looking forward to this, but I couldn’t even get halfway through the trailer, it looked so bad! Flashbacks of Sommers’ Van Helsing and Keanu Reeves in Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Ugh. Think I’ll just go rewatch American Werewolf in London instead.

  • el

it looks great. Old-timey, not so much. Besides, with that cast, can you really go wrong?

  • Yolanda

    Looks like a good one!

  • Smiles

I’m holding my breath that this will be good. The trailer did little to convince me of that; although I agree that the cast is outstanding.
Unfortunately, I’ve yet to see a convincing werewolf on screen in any movie. I hope “The Wolfman” breaks that cycle.

  • Danno

wg – American Werewolf in London is an absolute classic.

I watched this trailer and this movie looks genuinely frightening. It didn’t really show the fully transformed wearwolf but it looks to be the best representation of a werewolf since Werewolf in London.

AWiL is the best werewolf flick ever. The Howling 2nd. this could be either a cool, atmospheric movie like Sleepy Hollow or a visually sumptuous bore like Bram Stoker’s Drac.
