R.I.P. 'Reno 911': Share your favorite memories!

‘Reno 911′ has been canceled, Thomas Lennon announced via Twitter yesterday (and Comedy Central confirmed to us this morning). “I won’t be wearing the shorts again,” he wrote, hopefully while wearing some type of shorts anyway. The series’ sixth season, which ended in July, definitely had a different vibe in the absence of former series regulars Johnson (Wendi McLendon-Covey), Garcia (Carlos Alazraqui), and Kimball (Mary Birdsong), but I’ve always been a fan. My absolute favorite segment of Reno is truly random: At the beginning of season 3, after the deputies are released from prison, crazy Trudy (Kerri Kenney) runs the worst bed and breakfast in history out of her cat-saturated home. Maybe something was a little “off” with me that night, but I could not stop cackling at the premise that her decrepit B&B could satisfy plenty of senior-citizen guests in the greater Reno area. Anyway, that clip’s not online, and better to show a clip of the whole group anyway. Enjoy, and please share your favorite Reno 911 moments in the comments.

I think it’s Tacos Tacos Tacos Tacos for lunch, guys. R.I.P. R-9-1-1. In your honor, PopWatch promises: Tomorrow’s our first day of not j***ing off with jelly in the car.

I know this is terrible, but one of my favorite moments is when Trudy visits her mother’s grave and tells stories about her life. Another small moment (clearly Trudy is my favorite character) is when Trudy is listening to a language tape, but spends the entire time repeating the English phrases instead of the foreign phrases. That’s also the lead-in to the episode where she pretends to be suicidal for attention.

While I can’t remember a particular scene or episode that I loved, I always got a good laugh from any scene that included Terry.

Doing “Thriller” at the press conference – thinking they weren’t rolling tape yet…

I loved when Trudy is getting ready for her wedding at an “African-American” beauty salon and the way they do her hair and make-up.

“Now, I don’t care if you wear mini-skirts. I don’t care if you wear Dungarees. I don’t care if you’re good at basketball, I don’t care if you’re fun to be around. But you can rest assured that every one of you, at some point, is going to be raped.” -Dangle speaking to a Jr. High Class

it was actually trudy who said that at the high school.

When that cat went into the air conditioner, I about died with laughter.

I totally agree! It’s one of my favorite moments on tv ever! I was able to record just the cat into the air conditioner part on my tivo over a year ago and I don’t think I’ll ever delete it!

Yeah, I loved the whole show, but the Reading Ron episode was my favorite – speaks to the show and to Brian Unger’s comedic timing. Also, Inspector Smiley was great, too.

My absolute favorite episode is the Halloween episode from season 1 where Dangle and Junior TP Trudy’s house. Big Mike is my favorite supporting character.

    “And the installation is frrreeeeeeeee…”

  • to Jim

It was actually Trudy who said the “going to be raped” line; funny, funny stuff all around…

    Best. Character. Ever!

Any episode with Garcia and Jonesy. I particularly loved the Garcia character with his hilarious & comical seething anger and loveable vulnerability. One of the most hilarious bits in the series was the last scene in “And the Installation is Free” Jonesy’s distress and Garcia consoling is hysterical and a classic. Bye Bye Reno 911 – Thanks for all the laughs!

How is it that Kerri Kenny, who is funnier than all of the nominees for Best Actress Comedy this year, has never sniffed a nomination?

  • bhm1304

Oh and “Security for Kenny Rogers” is my personal favorite.

The episode with Garcia’s surprise “wake-up” birthday party in the motel room with the fake dead hooker. Dangle was too cool and Garcia’s breakdown was too funny!

I don’t remember what season this was in, but there was this milk shake man and I think it was Jones and Garcia, they were making fun of him and he ended up throwing a milkshake at their windshield. I couldn’t stop laughing when they started chasing him. Then at the end when they called a truce the guy got hit by the truck and died. hilarious. I will miss the show but i think it is time. this last season wasn’t as funny and i missed clementine
