On last night’s Daily Show, Rachel McAdams — there to promote The Time Traveler’s Wife (read EW’s review) — could not stop “giving away” the movie. The best part was when Stewart backed up: “But, obviously, that’s not the plot,” as it allowed both of them to backpedal a bit and also echoed what was on everyone’s mind: Dude, THAT’S your plot? I wish he’d dug a little deeper into the absurdity of a time-traveling romance — we could have had a Hurley vs. Miles situation à la Lost. We were kind of getting there when she started talking about the meadow.
It just occurred to me that I do not currently know anyone who dislikes Rachel McAdams. She’s a bit like Paul Rudd that way, no? McAdams’ scatter-shot plot reveal and adorable elbow-lean do make me a bit more likely to (eventually) see The Time Traveler’s Wife — what about you? And, as PopWatch asked back in June: Can the film reestablish McAdams as a Hollywood It Girl?

Good call on the fantastic Rachel McAdams probably being the female Paul Rudd (the celebrity you’d be hard pressed to find that anybody actively dislikes), though I haven’t heard of too many people who dislike Kate Winslet either. (Certainly not anyone I know…or would talk to on a regular basis.)
That was a very funny interview. She does seem like a very sweet person. She is the main reason why I too will eventually see “The Time Traveler’s Wife.”
i love Rachel McAdams since her Notebook days. will see “TTTW” tonite with the whole family… and that’s includes 3 teenagers (ages 16-19).
I’m not a big fan of Rachel McAdams. I won’t go see a movie just because she’s in it. *Even though I am planning on seeing TTTW*
I’d watch that girl grocery shop.
lol. I’d watch her read.
I’ll see the movie this evening because Eric Bana is in it.
I’ll see it despite Eric Bana. The book was really good…and I heart Rachel McAdams.
Rachel McAdams is a doll. She should be in at least 3 movies a year and getting photographed more than Paris Hilton
At least 3 movies a year? I totally agree. I do disagree that she should be photographed more than Paris Hilton. Rachel has talent, beauty and sophistication, Paris is famous for nothing else than being photographed. The real talents don’t need their faces and life-story splashed across every tabloid to get attention. Keep up the great work Rachel!

Thought the interview was funny. The movie may be absurd (haven’t seen it yet) but the plot isn’t, the book made a time-traveling romance completely plausible.
Can you really give away a plot when it was a best selling book first? Didn’t that already “give it away”?
I love Rachael McAdams. There is something about her but I just think she’s so classy and beautiful and actually a really great actress. This interview is hilarious by the way because the plot of the book/movie does sound really ridiculous outside of the story. I picked up the book so many times, read the back and put it back. But it’s a good book, great love story and it actually works. So maybe the movie will too.
I agree totaly with the posting in hear. Rachal is soo beaufitful and teh camera loves that face of hers. But time travel movie is so old. Why go back or go ahead, now is where the life is.
You need to read the book.
I HATE Rachel McAdams. I have never liked her performance in any movie I’ve seen of her’s except Mean Girls. Her performance in the Notebook (cringe) was unmoving/cheesy, and comparable to a Lifetime movie performance
wow- you hate her enough to flock to a story with her name in the title? That says hate to me, I guess.
Thanks Jason!
BTW, Jason. One person can’t “flock” to a story. Only a bunch of people. And Tricia may have clicked on this story to hear time travel explained.
Oh, and I clicked on the story because it had Jon Stewart’s name it in. I love Jon Stewart.
I’m with you, Tricia. Glad I’m not alone.
I twittered earlier today that seeing Rachel on The Daily Show made me want to see the movie. Like Ruby who commented above, I also picked up the book and flipped through it a few times, but always put it back. Rachel’s interview makes me want to see the movie AND read the book. If that doesn’t make her an IT girl, I don’t know what does.
I never read the book…I can’t gag down romance in print, but can handle it via movies SOMETIMES.
But, it’s because of the absurd idea that I do want to see this movie. I am curios to see how the handle the subject.
Rachel McAdam is easy to watch. And though I hate those teen movie like Mean Girls, I think she adds nicely to most movie. She is not an amazing actress, but well above many.
Thanks for the clip…really cute!
She gets naked in it, I will not miss this.
