Instead of its usual live airing, tonight’s Big Brother offering will be a taped episode in anticipation of a possibly volatile eviction ceremony. CBS has yet to respond to requests from EW for comment, but the belief is Chima, the hotheaded houseguest who’s serving as this week’s head of household, could throw a fit if fellow HG Jeff uses his “wizard power,” aka the secret coup d’etat power that America granted him last week. All this may sound like Sanskrit to you non-BB fans so here’s a quick explanation: The coup d’etat will allow Jeff to overturn Chima’s eviction nominations (in this case, Lydia and Russell) and pick new nominees should he choose to exercise it today, thus making for a pretty dramatic episode. But Chima, who fans have already seen go off on Russell, could turn her threats into reality (she has apparently said she’ll go “batcrap crazy”) and turn the ceremony into a train wreck — thus the Web chatter about the reason behind taping the show early.
What do you think? Should BB take Chima’s threat seriously? Will this ruin a possibly craptastic episode?

I am very anxious to hear CBS’s explanation for this. I think it’s ridiculous. And the live feeds will apparently not come on until after the episode airs, so hope none of you spent money on them!! Way to let Chima run your show. Ugh.
I can understand the decision if they think she’s actually likely to fulfill her threats. If they have to censor everything that’s happening, we’ll be spending an entire hour watching their aquarium stock footage. Needless to say, I’m still disappointed.

Speaking of money, I wonder how much it cost CBS to alter the show’s timetable and was it worth it just to keep Chima in the house?
I really wish Big Brother would quit trying to force the game the way it wants just to please fans. People seem to love Jeff and Jordan (don’t ask why) and instead of even having them compete for this power, they just have the audience hand it to them. I know this isn’t exactly athletics, but would we give a hockey team an extra 10 minutes of power plays just because they’re cuter? Poor Chima actually.
The coup d’etat was probably planned from the beginning, before CBS had any idea which players the public would love. And even if they had an inkling that it would be Jeff, this isn’t the first time America has been able to help out their favorite players. If you sign up for “Big Brother” nowadays, you should always be aware that America may have a say in something that happens so you better come across as likable. That’s just part of the game.
I don’t think they planned to make it so Jeff would win, but just whoever America would end up liking. I know it’s part of the game now, but I still dislike it every time it happens. They had a fair share of unlikable winners in the past, and now they are compromising whatever “integrity” there was to the game in favor of keeping people happy. If I ever get on the show, I guess I could just smile and be friendly and hope the producers carry me to F2.
You’re clearly in the minority. America HATES Chima & really dislikes Jesse and Natalie. It wasn’t BB who forced the issue…they offered AMERICA an option…and AMERICA overwhelmingly voted to give Jeff the CDT power because he’s the best of the bunch. “Poor Chima”???? Give me a break. I can’t wait until she’s gone.
Please, it doesn’t matter who America likes. I just take issue in the producers so desperately trying to manipulate the game in favor of who America likes just to keep viewers. It’s supposed to be a game of skill, and if they can’t cut it like people did in previous seasons, then they shouldn’t be there. I’m not a giant fan of Chima, but she won HOH fair and square but they are taking it away from her because she’s not America’s Sweetheart. I don’t think it’s fair.
Fatima, I can understand how you dislike the whole coup d’etat scenario, but you still seem to be viewing it merely as a device CBS concocted to thwart Chima. Jeff could have used the power last week. Seven other people could have won HOH this week. And even in this scenario, if Chima didn’t have such hatred for some players and didn’t have such tunnel vision, she could have been as perceptive as Jessie and realized Jeff has the power. In which case, maybe she could have opened some other lines of communication and worked something out that was mutually beneficial to both her and Jeff. Or she could have at least convinced him of something that would be perceived as mutually beneficial. But no, Chima just hates some people, and once she wants them gone, she must have her way. If she wins this whole thing, I’ll be stunned. Russell may be more than a little hot-headed, like Chima, but he’s at least smart enough to change gears when he needs to do so. Chima won’t be able to do that when it needs to happen.
I couldn’t agree more…for some reason America loves them (prob because they are attractive) and they get a free ride to 500k without competing. AMEN

Jeff has actually done alright in the competitions. He took himself off the hotseat by winning a POV, and he made it to the final two of an endurance competition before striking a deal with Russell.
I couldn’t give a rat’s butt if Jeff and Jordan are the most attractive. They are BY FAR the most attractive on the inside where it counts!!!
Like the way Big Brother “forced” Jessie on us for another season. It goes both ways. Two seasons they had America’s Player and this season they are having the “wizard power”. Almost every season gives America’s favorite some kind of an advantage.
You are kidding right? That’s what Big Brother is all about. Having someone else see all and play with everyone’s day. Plus this isn’t a game or a sport like hockey, it’s a scripted reality show that is classed as a serial not even an actual game show.
It’s not scripted. The cast nut jobs and watch the sparks fly. The producers only ask questions in the DR. It’s a game show and they have to be on the level.
Uh, don’t forget – America often likes the sneakiest, most devilish competitors…think Dr. Will (my personal favorite), Evil Dick, etc. So just being cute and nice isn’t going to make America love you. Maybe they thought this guy had the cajones to shake up the house…
I see what you’re saying, but America’s influence has been a part of this show for quite a few seasons now, so it’s time for houseguests to be able to play accordingly. And this is most likely going to effect Jessie, who got booted via America last year, and having a second chance STILL BEHAVED LIKE AN ASS THAT NO ONE LIKES. He of all people should of known.
Additionally, I guarantee a player that might not be loved like Dr. Will (in season 2 or 7) would DEFINITELY have been able to navigate his way around the silly power, in fact, he’d make it work to his advantage somehow. Unfortunately, people this season truly aren’t that bright.

PERSONALLY, I am excited for tonight. I could care less about pre-taping, feeds, etc….the drama (we hope) that Jeff will bring us tonight is what we want. I can’t wait to see Chima’s face when Russell comes off the block and her two favorite people go up instead – bye bye Jessie or Natalie!

taped or not, Chima going “batcrazy” should be overly dramatic Big Brother at it’s best. Chima also needs to realize in the Big Brother house people don’t think for the HOH, they think for themselve, but that is just my little Chima vendetta. Either way this has been a pretty good season thus far and I’m looking forward to tonight’s episode.
I think its dumb, but par for the course with this show. They edit what really happens so much that the CBS show isn’t real at all. Once again, you won’t get to see whats really going on, just what CBS wants you to see. Talk about influencing the game. While I know every show does this, the fact is that if you are letting people see whats going on in real time (for extra money of course) then you should be better about the stories you are crafting when plenty of people know whats really happening.

I love it!! I think Chima is a total whack job who needs to realize that this is all part of the game. They all know this power is out there and to think that she can threaten anyone who uses it to take down ner nominations is crazy! I love that America gave Jeff the power as he’s the best one to use it. Hopefully he uses it wisely (BUH BYE Jessie or Natalie I hope). It’s gonna be a good one!
What is so funny is that CBS is so nervous about Chima and what she says, and while she can be shrill and kind of annoying, she seems nice enough. However, the thing they are cautious about is that she doesn’t back down, Russell tries to bully people and she gets in his face and even though he is these muscle bound dude and she is like one hundred pounds soaking wet, the houseguests are more nervous of her.
I agree Kate – I liked it when Chima got in russells face and I wanted to see her go crazy tonight so I am upset that CBS did not show it live. I wnat Chima gone next

The fact that someone doesn’t like producers manipulating the show makes them an idiot. I see. I don’t care about the coup d’etat, bring it on, it doesn’t bother me. But if you think people who are annoyed by it are “idiots,” how about the millions of people who complain about the AI producers trying to sway the outcome? Or who gave up on Survivor when it got too full of producer’s game-affecting ‘twists’? All idiots? Wow, millions of idiots and only amanda left to be a smarty pants.

Chima is the biggest bully i have ever seen in this game. I would love to see her blow then get evicted for her behavior. she has said things and done things that i believe should disqualify her in this game. We the people have a great time watching the show and should be able to see her true colors, instead of edited versions of what really happens. We chose Jeff for a reason and he is the most level headed so far in the game, We love Russ and would love to see him stay just to get Queen chima knocked off her thrown. then kicked out or voted out instead of him. Now thats Great TV..

I would absolutely give my right nut to see her blow her stack tonight. But I can also understand the network being nervous. This is the best season by far and I certainly hope Russell is able to come back and get her kicked out of the house, backdoor style!
Ronnie was a bully. He threatened Michelle for because she wouldn’t take him off the block and then he bad mouthed her on live tv.

While I am no fan of Chima’s, I don’t think she meant it as an attack on his heritage. She said that Russell has been terrorizing all of the houseguests who wouldn’t vote for him; thus he’s a terrorist. I just think both of them need to go…they make me head hurt.
Actually, that’s just how CBS edited it. If you have the live feeds or follow them on a blog you will see that she called him a terrorist over and over again without saying anything about terrorizing the house. She also called him Osama a couple of times. Misconstrue that.

Actually it is an attack on his ethnicity. When someone called her on it, she said it didn’t matter because most of America hates Middle Easterners. Claiming that she says it because he terrorizes the house is disingenuous spin on Chima’s part. She came up with that excuse after Kevin called her out for being racist.
She also said something about Russell being raped. How can someone who was raped wish that on someone else.
