It was only a matter of time, really, before Robert Pattinson’s Edward Cullen and Kristen Stewart’s Bella Swan would be getting a makeover courtesy of Mattel. Yes, Twilight Barbies will hit shelves in early November (just in time to taunt the other kids in line for New Moon) at $25 a pop. Holiday wish-list recipients and toy store employees, consider this your fair warning. Not being a Twihard myself (I wasn’t a stickler for how much was left out of the book for the movie, nor I am deeply enveloped in casting shakeups), I was still slightly perplexed upon first look at the Edward and Bella dolls. While the makers at least had the good sense to make the Edward doll pale, with a strong jawline, and sporting a Ryan Cabrera ‘do, there are no words for poor Bella. Maybe it’s the fact the Bella Barbie is smiling (the Kristen Stewart comparisons start and end right there) but mostly it’s because if you lost the blue jacket, she becomes interchangeable with every other Barbie. And what about accessories? A dented orange truck? An apple? Will Special Edition Edward sparkle in the sun? And where’s Jacob? (Though I’m fairly certain he’d have to be a Transformer, anyway.)
Not to be outdone, Hallmark is introducing a line of Twilight greeting cards (and e-cards) for birthdays, Halloween, and Valentine’s Day. My personal favorite is one aimed at fans torn between Team Edward and Team Jacob, with both Pattinson and Taylor Lautner on the front of the card with the question, “What’s not to love?” I can’t imagine these being used anywhere except a 4th grade-classroom, because call me crazy, but I don’t many guys will be asking their girlfriends which fictionional dreamboat they desire the most. What do you think of all this new Twilight merchandise, PopWatchers? Are you as equally baffled as me by the Bella dolls? Or are you too busy deciding whether you want an Edward or Jacob greeting card?

I dont think people are jealous I think people her to be a professional actress not a airhead that drops awards and speaks like you know she has had a lot of time to adjust to being an actor from childhood and I think she thinks that she is the best. some people would be jealous that she is dating Robert Pattinson but that will not last as I think they are dating because of the role dont know he could be an airhead for all i know. I only care about the book as it is fantastic

This is beyond ridiculous. How stupid! You know that people will actually buy this rubbish. I am a fan of the books, but didn’t really like the movie. Kristen was terrible. Nice to know the doll is as generic as the actress that portrayed Bella.
the book describes Bella as generic. So I think in that case, Bella is good. But anyhow, kristen is pretty and perhaps not plain enough to be a great Bella. But to have a beautiful Bella in the fourth book, then maybe kristen is fit for the part. Anyway, the article: Funny that they made barbies and greeting cards. Yes, once again things have gone too far in our material world. *Sigh*. I like twilight, but c’mon people… it’s a cool story. I’m sure Stephanie Meyer didn’t think when she was writing it “I hope they make an Edward and Bella Barbie Doll for the shelves.”
I now what you mean by her looks she is pretty, but I was talking about was the way she played the character. There was no colour in it. It came across as boring and frustrated rather than shy and caring.

i think this is gonna ba great! i personally, will purchase both dolls. i’m a huge fan of both the movie & the books. Leave Kristen alone. She’s exactly right for this part. if she wasn’t, she would not’ve gotten the part. if anyone else thinks they can do better, go ahad & try taking the part from her. it’ll never happen.
You actually believe that she’s right for Bella just because “if she wasn’t she wouldn’t have gotten the part.”? Seriously? The only reason she got the part was because Catherine Hardwicke is good friends with Michael Angarano who Kristen was dating at the time she was cast. Catherine Hardwicke is known to cast people just because she’s friends with them. Anybody who believes that KStew got the part because she was ‘right for it’ and that many other young actresses couldn’t have done a much better job, is very naive about how Hollywood works. NEWS FLASH: It’s not about how talented you are, it’s about who you know.
Well, that is how Hollywood works. Nikki Reed is an absolutely horrible choice for Rosalie, but since she wrote Thirteen, which Hardwicke directed, she was put in Twilight.

i think she is an amazing atress if she was as bad as you are making her out to b how come she has been cast in so many films recently. maybe many other actress could have done the same job or better but you should allow everyone to have thier own opinion and if you do want to voice yours i think you should do it in more of an appropriate manner !
Apparently Meyer didn’t want Kristen for the part. She wanted Emily Browning to portray Bella. If you ask me Emily would have done a better job.
I COMPLETELY agree with you Rose and mscisluv, Julie, and Barbs. Kstew cannot act, she is always the same in movies, bored and sort of bitchy. In the book Edward is kind of rude (at the begining) towards Bella but in the movie Bella(Kstew) is is actually rude to Edward. She acts like she’s too good for him when she is supposed to think she isn’t good enough for him. Kristen Stewart as bella is basically kstew herself, thinks she’s too good for everyone, always looking bored, and never smiling. She didn’t have that *spark* with Edward(rob) nor did she put a lot of soul into the portraying. I think she let A LOT of fans down because after reading the books I was REALLY looking forward to a good twilight movie and she practically ruined it.

Its kinda weird, but its just like any other popular movie, they all get an action figure eventually. I am a fan of the books, not particularly the movie, i am holding out hope the next one is good.
The only thing that really stinks about being a fan of these books is that i never read the book any where other than my house because i feel like if i take it to a coffee shop, everyone who sees me is going to think i am some crazy ass fan who would jump robert pattinson at the sight of him. And i’m not, i am a fan of the book, if i saw robert pattinson on the street i would probably act as if i didn’t know who he was! So i just dont like the steryotype that the fans of these books are getting, we all aren’t crazy!
Don’t worry Jacob fans. There will be a Jacob doll coming out next year to go with these two.

love twilight the movie and the books but all this merchandise is annoying, first of all twilight has teenage fans (and the mother of those fans) wat teenager is going to play with dolls? greeting cards maybe, although most of my friends r twilight fans i dont think any of them will buy the cards. and were in a recession!! ppl dont have money to waste on this crap. stop with the dolls and stuff, twilight fans r not a bunch of 8 year olds.

I agree…Rob and Taylor seem very intelligent and kind to everyone. They tirelessly answer the same questions over an over with enthusiam every time. Their futures look great and if I was a movie director casting a crew, I would want happy, well adjusted, eager workers. Kristen stumbles in conversation and doesn’t add any insight. Sorry Kristen but it’s hard to tell if you are bright or not and your attitude is not as enthusiastic as the others. It doesn’t look cool – it just looks uninspiring. I think your acting was either horrible or so extremely brilliant that you fooled us all by acting extremely awkward(i.e. squeezing the katsup, tripping in the green house- not so good).
