'New Moon' trailer will play in front of 'Bandslam' -- will you see it?

For years now, Hollywood has played a deft bait-and-switch game of announcing that the new trailer for an upcoming Must See Movie would play in front of another film from the same studio that, quite frankly, could maybe do with a box-office boost. So Summit Entertainment’s announcement today that it will put the brand spankin’ new preview for The Twilight Saga: New Moon in front of Summit flick Bandslam when it opens this weekend should shock nobody, especially considering just how crowded this coming weekend will be at the box-office: You’ve got District 9 pulling in the sci-fi fans (and the just plain awesome movie fans), The Time Traveler’s Wife pulling in the romantic weepy movie fans and fans of the romantic weepy novel it’s based on, and Ponyo pulling in the family film fans and the Hayao Miyazaki animation fans, not to mention moviegoers who’ve yet to devour Julie & Julia or subject themselves to G.I. Joe. Sure, Bandslam‘s got HSM queen bee Vanessa Hudgens in its corner, but against this onslaught of cinema competition, the flick could do with a ticket sales booster shot courtesy Taylor Lautner’s abs.

But will it work? You tell me, PopWatchers: Are you enough of a die-hard Twihard that you’ll buy a ticket to Bandslam just to see the new New Moon trailer? Or are you content to just watch it online? I assume if you read this far, those two questions should cover you, but just in case: Or were you already planning on checking out Bandslam, and are now concerned that your theater will be overrun by screaming members of Team Jacob? (Just for kicks, I’ve embedded the New Moon teaser below.)

The trailer for this movie looks a million times better than the first one — NO GREEN TINT! Though I’m Team Edward, I can’t wait to see “New Moon!”

  • Todd

I actually saw Bandslam the other night (without the trailer) and it was actually pretty good. I could care less about New Moon, but Bandslam may actually be worth going to see on its own.

Why would u waste money, you know someone will have it on you tube asap! You don’t need to see underage skin on big screen that bad for trailer!

  • steph

LOL why waste ~$10 to see a trailer that will be on youtube almost immediately? Besides, I’m going to see Ponyo! Bandslam looks stupid, and Vanessa Hudgens doesn’t help it any.

I dont like vanessa hudgens either! but i still would rather see it in person that in some crappy youtube video and bandslam does look good

  • maybe

i want too, c the trailer, but i relly don’t wanna c the movie bandslam.

  • Angela

I’m not wasting my money because I know comingsoon.net will have the new trailer soon.

  • Em

old news. i have been seeing this commercial with the announcement for about a month now. sadly, i might see it.

  • GS

No way would I see Bandslam…hoping New Moon is better than Twilight. Just read the books and it’s going to be hard to capture everything. The look is already better. The Time Traveler’s Wife is what I’ve been waiting on!

I wanted to see BANDSLAM without the trailer. I hear it’s really cool, and the soundtrack is supposed to be great.

The article I read (not this one) made it seem like the trailer in theatres was new and not the one already seen on the Internet. Still, I’ll just wait to see it when it IS online and save my money.

Normally, I wouldn’t go see a movie, JUST for a trailer – but BANDSLAM looks cool. I’m there.

My cousins saw BANDSLAM at some promotional thing in the mall. They said it’s amazing, cool, and way better than the commercials for it. Apparently there’s 25 great songs in it, and new bands from south by southwest. I’m there.

I want to see the movie. I want to see the trailer. And there’s nothing else out there I want to see. Maybe Time Traveller’s Wife. But I hear the music in Bandslam is awesome. Like David Bowie and Wilco.

Actually BANDSLAM looks good. I don’t know if they changed their commercials or something. But as a Mom, I want to bring my kids to a movie that I might enjoy. And Lisa Kudrow in that movie look funny. By far the most promising movie this weekend. At least for me.
