Can Jeremy Piven earn an Emmy for 'Monday Night Raw'?

Jeremy-Piven-wwe-raw_lLast night, Jeremy Piven hosted WWE Monday Night Raw, along with The Hangover’s Ken Jeong, costar of his new movie The Goods. (Their entrance.) When I last watched wrestling, Rock ‘n’ Roll Express was huge, so forgive me if I get this wrong: Apparently, Piven back-stabbed John Cena by handpicking Randy Orton, Legacy, and others as the “lumberjacks” — guys whose job it is to line the ring and toss you back in it, after they pound on you — for Cena’s Lumberjack Match with The Miz (aka The Real World’s Mike Mizanin).

Things got “interesting” when Piven took to the ropes himself (pictured). Let’s just say the producers of Broadway’s Speed the Plow will enjoy the clip after the jump on multiple levels.

WWF er I mean WWE… still as gay as I remember it. And i dont mean that in a negative… but where else you gonna see oily buff guys in briefs and knee high boots rolling around with each other and being melodramatic… even Charles Busch cant write material THAT camp…

I liked “Dr Chen” doing is his best Ric Flair impersonation.

    • Chris

      err.. Dr. Ken

    Cool! 1000 times cool!

As far as plugging a movie is concerned, this is MUCH more interesting than sitting on a couch and talking with Conan, Dave, Fallon or any of those guys.

I mean, look at his face in that pic as he flies off the top rope…that is EXCELLENT.

I still say Ken Jeong (“you know him as the Asian gentleman in “The Hangover”) is still subdued here compared to his performance in “Hangover”

Ok, when I was 6 I realized wrestling was fake, and I know all about how they fake landings and stuff. But Dr. Ken (yes, he is actually a licensed doctor) looks to have actually hit his head pretty hard on that landing. Go check it out.

    • Ceballos

It’s funny you mentioned that because I noticed the exact same thing. The back of his head bounces against the floor which is normal. Also, wrestling isn’t so much “fake” as it is obviously pre-determined and choreographed. These guys take a massive beating and if you don’t do even what looks like a simple move right, you’re gonna be hurting.

      • Jymmy

Sorry for my poor phrasing regarding it being “fake.” I think Dr. Ken proves in that clip that if you even stray an inch or two from your pre-determined landing, you could end up seriously injured.

      • Ceballos

I hate to reply to my own reply, but I meant to say “the back of his head bounces against the floor which is NOT normal.”

  • MurMaz

Yep, those guys screwed up on that catch. Hope Dr. Ken is ok!

  • Terrence

Has anyone heard if Dr. Ken really did get hurt?

I think they are going too far with the guest host thing. I watched the opening of the show and thought it was dumb. I am a wrestling fan… Yes i know it is fake, but you have to realize this stuff does take talent to do. but anyway if they would plug the movie and then get on with the show to do what is asked of them i think it would have been a better show. Dont make it all about them and the show is better.
