Downloadable content for Fallout 3? You don’t say. Today’s Mothership Zeta release — $10 for Xbox and PC — is the fifth add-on for the popular game, which…is kind of nuts. It’s like a whole different game’s worth of downloads. I’m not complaining, especially because Zeta is such a departure:
Ayeee. The range of the DLC for Fallout 3 is sort of spoiling me, though. Now I want wildly different content for my favorite TV shows, too, and downloadable, flash-forward epilogues for movies; I want online-only spin-offs for secondary characters, or an album’s worth of previously unreleased tracks.
Has downloadable game content changed the way you think about other media, PopWatchers? What would you give for extra hours of your beloved TV shows or films?

You’re brave. After all the bugs and problems that infested earlier Fallout 3 DLC, I won’t touch anything from Bethesda on release day ever again.
Game add-ons, DLC, expansions, whatever you want to call them, have been around for years (decades?).
There is nothing new, or even unique, Bethesda is doing with their DLC for Fallout 3.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m a big fan of their work. I’ve thousands of hours logged on their games, and two hundred plus are from Fallout 3. Their recent DLC is fun, varied, and interesting. It’s just not… mind blowing, groundbreaking, or new.
As far as wanting more content for my TV shows, music albums, and whatnot: I’ve always wanted that. A fresh add-on to my favorite video game isn’t necessary for that kind of thinking! Anyone else wonder about the story of the bounty hunter from the last episode of Firefly? What Star Wars Fan didn’t grab all the Boba Fett books?
I remember Half-Life Opposing Forces and Blue Shift being really great additions to the Black Mesa story. I’m just finishing Fallout 3 and can’t wait to see what’s in store once I grab the DLC
There’s a key difference between your average Bethesda DLC (in general, not just for Fallout) and your average TV character spinoff: Bethesda DLC tends to be, bugs aside, really high-quality entertainment, instead of throw-away “hey, this could make some money!” crap.
I got such a good laugh (and a good weapon) from finding the crashed UFO in Fallout 3, I’m looking forward to playing Mothership Zeta.
So far I have had no issues with the DLC. I intentionally created more then three characters and levels of play up two level 28. Each level recognized the DLC and so far I have not trouble. You gotta take a chance in life down load it !!
I played it, and surprisingly, not too many bugs. The storyline was pretty wierd but, you need to be a true fallout player to know what the fudge is going on… I give it 3/5 stars.
the biggest bug I have encountered is that after blowing up all the generators my characters cannot get through the door after the airlock, one time the secondary character were able to teleport up, but could not get further, and now I can’t even get them that far. Pretty crippling bug for an otherwise awesome add on.
I’ve discovered that after you complete Zeta, if you’re planning on returning to Point Lookout.. you’re outta luck. The captain must’ve been abducted? Because.. I can’t find him. Anywhere.
