'Harry Potter': Your favorite Daniel Radcliffe talk show appearance?

The only thing bad about Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince opening Wednesday is that Daniel Radcliffe won’t have a reason to hit the talk show circuit. I resisted him for as long as I could, then yesterday, binged on the following clips online. Which TV talk show appearance has been your favorite? (If I missed one, link me!)

NBC’s Today: The reason this clip got embedded is because Daniel is at his most handsome in this purple button-down shirt — and because the Today set and wand graphic/sound effect kill me. Also, he gets so excited talking about his ping pong skills and how he cheats at Monopoly.

Live with Regis and Kelly: Oh, Reege, only you could get away with a question like, “So where does this film take place? What’s going on?” But, at least he makes up for it with the brilliant, “What kind of woman fascinates you at this age?” Daniel says he’s looking for someone who’s funny, intelligent, and slightly mad and eccentric. Of course, when he mentions that the media has made much of his interest in older women, Kelly leans in to ask “How old?” (Daniel says, “I should be so lucky, Kelly.” So smooth.) Turns out Dan’s open to Helen Mirren, who, naturally, Regis confuses with Halle Berry (???).

Jonah Hill is not on Twitter, FYI

If you’re following Superbad star Jonah Hill on Twitter, you’ll want to watch the clip below from last night’s Late Show with David Letterman. As he was forced to tell Iron Man director Jon Favreau when they got into a heated back-and-forth, he’s not even on Twitter. While I celebrate the fact that @NeilDiamond is a verified account (“Had an amazing reunion with my NYU fencing team yesterday — what a blast!”), please feel free to out other celebrity Twitter impostors in the comments section.

Chris Harrison blogs 'The Bachelorette': episode 9

Chris-Harrison-ext_l That's it, I'm now fully corrupted. I hope you're happy with yourselves. As many of you know, it was a big tech leap for me to start blogging last season. Then I took the next step and started tweeting (@chrisbharrison). Now, I have completed the circle…I'm on Facebook. I realize I'm about three years late to this party but hey, at least I arrived. There are a few fake pages but the real one has a bunch of pics and updates. It also has all the blogs from this season so you can go back and catch up, or just read them over and over again. I think my next step will be getting one of these new cordless devices I've been hearing so much about. Apparently you carry it around and you can make phone calls with it, and it's not attached to the wall. Okay, enough of my pathetic technological life. Let's talk business.

I apologize for not being there for you and Jillian last week in Spain. It's good to know that I was missed. Of all the people I really wanted to say “take a moment and say your goodbyes” to, I didn't get the chance. So, if you don't mind, I'd like to do it now. Wes, get your guitar, your hit song (in Chihuahua, Mexico), your Texas sayings (that really give all of us proud Texans a bad name), your girlfriend, and take a moment and say your goodbyes. Not sure about you but I feel better now. I promise I won't leave you hanging again and I'll make sure I get Jillian across the finish line. As I said last week, now that Wes is gone Jillian can get down to the business of finding the man she truly loves and wants to spend the rest of her life with. I met up with Jillian and the boys in Maui, where we spent this week. Kiptyn had the most uneventful date with Jill. I don't mean that in a bad way whatsoever, it's just that the other two dates had a little more content and drama. It always feels very easy between Kip and Jill. They had a blast at the ropes course and then came the fantasy suite card part II. Jillian gave in this time and took him back to the fantasy suite. Let me just say one thing about their relationship that bothers me a little bit. I don't like the fact that Jillian mentions at times that Kiptyn might be out of her league. That's an insecurity Jilli has and it's something she'll have to overcome before this relationship can take that next important step.

Must List Live!: Should the 'Big Brother' cliques be broken up?

The Big Brother house has always been like high school, but this season the producers have made it official by dividing the cast up into four teams, each one representing a different adolescent clique: Athletes, Popular, Brains, and Offbeat. (What, no “Skanks”? I guess that clique would have ended up being too crowded.) But how does this twist compare to past BB curveballs like “The Ex Factor” and “America’s Player”? Today on Must List Live!, Dalton Ross and I debate Big Brother: The Breakfast Club Edition, and give our early takes on the houseguests, like HOH Jessie: Is this meathead the best alumnus the show could come up with? Plus, our outspoken special guest (and favorite crank) Courtney Yates from Survivor: China stops by to give her take on Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and the summer-blockbuster season. Hint to Shia LaBeouf: You may want to skip this one if you’re the sensitive type.

'The Bachelorette' episode 9: Hawaiian sucker punch

So yeah, there's no other way to say it: Tonight, my favorite bachelor couldn't get it up. Don't worry, I won't reveal which guy is the softie for those of you who haven't seen it, but wow — Jillian really has not had much luck with this crew, has she? Either way, we're down to the final two. Both guys are in it to win it, but who do you want to see take home the trophy wife? Post your comments below, and enjoy the latest episode of EW.com's highly disturbing and entertaining series, The Doll Bachelorette. The new 'Funny People' trailer: Um, where's the cancer?

I couldn't help but notice one pretty major plot detail left out of the newest trailer for writer-director Judd Apatow’s upcoming Funny People (out July 31st). The first trailer bases itself around the premise that a famous stand-up comedian and actor (played by Adam Sandler) learns he has terminal cancer, but the second one — which played in front of Brüno this weekend — leaves that little detail out completely. Why? Now it’s just a movie about…funny people. Does leaving out the movie’s more serious element (and lines like "I'm dying") make it more appealing to an audience looking for laughs?

Giving much more face time to the likes of cameos Jason Schwartzman and Jonah Hill, the newer trailer seems to rely on a cast. Plot? Who needs it! Hopefully the movie won't do the same. What do you think PopWatchers? Just because a movie’s called "Funny People" and stars some funny people, is it guaranteed to be funny? Check out the new, slightly NSFW, cancer-and-plot-free trailer below, and then first, cancer-centric trailer after the jump.

Showtime's 'Revelation': Who's excited for a scripted drama about...religion?

Filed under: Television and tagged: ,

According to the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life, 39 percent of Americans say they attend religious services at least once a week, and 58 percent say they pray at least once a day. But we don't see a ton of religious practice on television; the most openly devout fictional family on prime time now is probably the Simpsons (or maybe the Henricksons). So color me excited for Revelation, Showtime's upcoming drama about an "unconventional minister" and his teenage kids, who relocate to Texas following his wife's death.

I'd be pumped for anything from David Janollari and Craig Wright — their mutual previous credit is Six Feet Under, so I trust them to create a thoughtful, unique family drama. But I'm particularly excited to see some religiosity play out on TV because I think it's underexplored — most religious people aren't 7th Heaven's Camden family, you know? I remember seeing the pilot for Friday Night Lights and being so struck by scene where the Panthers say a prayer with the pee wee kids. I can't remember seeing other characters pray on TV before, and it obviously stuck with me.

(skip ahead to 3:15)

I don't feel a huge need to have my beliefs reflected on television or held by my favorite characters, nor would I particularly seek out proselytizing. But drama comes from high stakes — hence all the cop and doctor shows — and faith, your position in a chaotic universe, an ultimate set of values or eternal choices, an idea of what comes before and what comes after? What's higher stakes than that?

Are you with me, PopWatchers? Do you wish more shows approached religion or had religious characters? And are you excited for Revelation?

'Glee' preview: I've seen the next two episodes!

Glee-kids_l It’s a (not so) little known fact that I love myself some Glee. I evenre-watched the pilot with my family during a recent vacation trip tothe beach; the Stacks enjoy a good musical number in between our poorattempts at tanning.

So I was beyond thrilled last week when Fox screened the next TWO(!) Gleeepisodes last week at their headquarters in New York. Here’s a littlepreview of what you all can expect in September when the show (finally)begins airing (SPOILER ALERT). The first ep back is called “Showmance,”and mainly focuses on the relationship between Rachel (Lea Michele) andFinn (Cory Montieth) — both pictured. But the highlight is a raunchy glee clubperformance of “Push It” during a school assembly; as Sandy Ryerson(Stephen Tobolowsky) said in the pilot, “It’s genius!”

Speaking of Sandy, he pops back up in the next episode, “Preggers.” Thestar of this episode though is Kurt (Chris Colfer) who does a hilariousversion of Beyonce’s “Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It).” He also has awonderfully touching scene near the end of the episode with hisultra-butch father, played by Mike O’Malley. Oh, and there’s a majorpregnancy announcement for one of the characters and it will probablycome as a surprise.

All in all, they were really really fun episodes. The quality seen in the pilot definitely does not waver. If anything, the showseems to be finding its footing and tone.

So, PopWatchers, does this make you even more excited for Glee? Have you been re-watching the pilot?

Neil Patrick Harris hosting Emmys: It's official (officially)!

Neil Patrick Harris has officially been tapped to host the Sept. 20 Emmy Awards on CBS. "After having had such a hoot hosting the Tonys, I was thrilled to getthe call about the Primetime Emmys," Harris said in a press release issued Monday. "I'm looking forwardto the challenge of the show — adding my own voice to it, whilehonoring the nominees and the entire year in television. But whichvoice to choose? I'm torn between gangsta, foppish Brit, and robot. Really proud of my robot. We'll see what happens on the night."

As EW's Michael Ausiello said when he first reported Harris' deal on July 2, the move makes perfect sense for CBS, which needs to juice the ceremony's ratings and make us forget all about last year's opening "comedy" number from the reality host quintet. (You almost had? Sorry!) Bottom line: Harris is an entertainer, which is what a host needs to be. You want to tune in to see if he does a musical number that rivals the one he did at the Tonys. (Note: 83 percent of EW readers said they "loved him" as Tonys host in a morning-after poll, 12 percent "liked him", 4 percent thought "he was okay", and only 1 percent "hated him.")

And you want to see how he will shamelessly promote How I Met Your Mother's season premiere (which is the night after the Emmys on CBS). What you DON'T want to see: The producers think that just because Harris has a theater background, they can try that "Emmys-in-the-round" crap they pulled with Ryan Seacrest in 2007.

Your turn. What Dos and Don'ts would you like to pass on to Neil Patrick Harris? Remember: The Tonys audience is notoriously the most responsive — they hate to see anyone die on stage. We have full confidence in Harris charming the Emmys crowd, but a little advice never hurt anyone…

Celebrating Michael Jackson pub-crawl style

Mj-pub-crawl_l While much of New York left town for the sandier, quieter Hamptons scene, a small but dedicated faction of Michael Jackson fans paid tribute to the late singer over the weekend…by bar-hopping all over Manhattan's East Village and Union Square neighborhoods. Saturday's "King of Pop Pub Crawl" was a mostly frat-tastic affair held at various watering holes where fans came to dance, sing, and drink (natch) in tribute to the late singer.

When the event was first announced on July 1, it caused a stir on the Internet. "This is parasitic gutter PR at its most vile," cried Time Out New York's Feed blog, which redacted the locations from its post, while New York Magazine's Grub Street had a sarcastic, albeit less offended take on the matter. I'm not really sure why there was such an outcry. It's understandable that some people might have seen this as a tacky marketing plot to drum up liquor sales, and it's easy to see why some participants would just use the event as an excuse to wear cheesy fedoras and get drunk in the middle of the day.

But while the event felt not unlike the countless themed frat parties I attended in college (one sunglasses-clad bargoer even brought along a baby doll and a blanket, waving it over the dance floor railing at one bar — get it?), the mood was largely celebratory. People — it didn't matter if they were old friends or just met that day — were just having a good time, whether they were dancing to "Billie Jean" or singing "Man in the Mirror" with the entire bar. Many came dressed in typical Michael Jackson fashion (that is, if Michael Jackson had worn madras shorts) like white gloves, and for the particularly dedicated fans, black fedoras. Some simply jumped up and down to songs like "Don't Stop 'til You Get Enough," while others clearly had spent considerable time at home mastering the King of Pop's nimble footwork. New York resident Nick Lorenzen, 28, was one such bar-hopper. "My buddy is a huge Michael Jackson fan," he said. So where did he get those dance moves? "I don't know; I like to dance, especially Michael Jackson-specific," he said.

What about you, PopWatchers? Was anyone celebrating MJ's life in your hometown?
