The return of Who Wants To Be a Millionaire is upon us, and with it, its requisite buzz factory. ABC announced today that the revival will include celebrity guests. Festive! Every night of the two-week run, a different celebrity will answer a single question to win $50K for the charity of their choice. That’s two fewer questions than you need to answer to cross a bridge, for those of you keeping score at home.
And then there’s the line-up of noted celebrity intellectuals: Lauren Conrad, Snoop Dogg, Patricia Heaton, Shawn Johnson, Steve Nash, Katy Perry, Rachael Ray, Sherri Shepherd, Vanessa Williams, Wynonna… and a “Surprise Guest.” None of these celebrities particularly screams “trivia whiz” to me, but the allure of a surprise guest is irresistible.

Would have liked to have seen Dev Patel on, just for the Millionaire tie-in. Surprise guest, I’d say Letterman, he owes Regis. Maybe Sarah Palin will get another question, what newspapers do you read? A. The Anchorage Daily News. B. The New York Times. C. The Washington Post. D. All of them.
What is The Bush Doctrine? A. A book. B. A foreign policy. C. A movie title. D. A factory outlet store.
Could they get Norm MacDonald again? He was easily the best celebrity guest on the show
Norm MacDonald would have won the whole thing, but Regis talked him out of answering the final question (which he had the right answer.) So, he should come back.
Would they let Obama use a teleprompter?
is that supposed to be funny or make sense? b/c it achieves neither feat.
Bene, it would be funny AND make sense if you had been paying attention to the truthful accounts of some news networks ;-D
Put me down for Norm MacDonald too. That was compelling television and Regis ripped his charity off for $500,000.
Flat out, Ben Stein. He belongs on this show.
yeah, it’s Norm MacDonald or nothing.
What bad list of celebs, esp. when Snoop is the smartest!@
ELLEN DEGENERES SHE WOULD BE FUNNY AND GREAT
Richard Nixon was the answer for the ist ever million dollar winner; President Obama could be tested to see if he knew that one. And the money could go to the creation for a Presidential scholarship program to be funded by Congress and awarded each year by the then current President to an individual that otherwise wouldn’t receive a college education.
The mystery celeb should be Regis’ cousin from American Idol: Kara DioGuardi.
Greed and arrogance will get you everytime. The lost of $475,000 will haunt him the rest of his life.
