Julie Chen blogs 'Big Brother': Season 11, elimination #3

Well, if Casey had to go, he sure went out with guns a’blazin’! But first…

After Jessie won HOH again last week, I couldn’t help but laugh when he started pulling the House Guests into his HOH Room, one at a time, to interrogate…uh, I mean, question each one about their motives and game play. Although many viewers have their issues with Jessie, you have to admit this is good stuff and the boards keep talking about him, so there’s something to be said about that! Speaking of…Jessie, Natalie, and Lydia? Talk amongst yourselves… I’m not even going to begin to speculate on that!

Lydia: “When I’m watching Jessie sleeping sometimes, he moves or smiles or his face has expressions – maybe he’s dreaming of unicorns…maybe he’s thinking about me. That would be nice.”

FUN FACT:
HAVE/HAVE NOT COMPETITION: “Keg Racer”
We used 75 gallons of suds.
There were 75 hanging foam ice cubes.

How many of you caught the complete “Truth or Dare” game play on the live feeds? Well, for those of you who missed it, here’s the breakdown of pranks. The House Guests, obviously looking to pass the time, started challenging each other. Natalie was dared to moon Lydia as she exited the Diary Room. When Lydia emerged, she was less than thrilled to be greeted by Natalie’s derriere. Ronnie was then dared to hug Casey (personally, this one made me a little nervous knowing how upset Casey is with him…but Casey, visibly annoyed by the whole thing, kept his cool, although he did let others know he did not want to be part of anything Ronnie ever again). Back to the game, Kevin was dared to slip into bed with Jessie, who was napping in the HOH suite. Kevin gingerly crawled into bed and cuddled with him. Natalie then woke Jessie up and he became irritated that his slumber was interrupted. The game continued as Russell licked whipped cream off of Chima’s neck, while Chima licked honey off of Russell’s finger. Hmm…yet another budding romance or mere game play? Talk amongst yourselves!

Chima: “I can’t believe you said I’m pretentious. I don’t try to pretend to be somebody I’m not.”

FUN FACT:
POWER OF VETO COMPETITION: “When Pigs Fly”
There were 7,000 gallons of mud in the pit.
There were three 10-point truffles in the mud pit.

Huge props to Casey for being a good sport. At the Power of Veto Competition, he thinks he’s won a trip to the Bahamas as Natalie pulls out the card, only to realize he’s won the privilege of wearing a banana suit for a week.

Russell to Casey (as he’s eating a banana while wearing his banana suit): “Don’t you feel bad eating your own kind?”

Casey: “It’s cana-banana-lism.”

A couple of days later, Casey the Banana Man then finds out he’s the actual target for eviction. At that point, he could have thrown in the towel and refused to wear the banana suit, but he didn’t and that makes him ultra-cool in my book. And it was hilarious to see him moping around the house in that thing.

Casey on his fate in the Big Brother House: “Dead banana walking, man.”

Kudos to Casey for keeping his sense of humor.

As I announced in tonight’s live eviction show, the cliques are now official dissolved and the House Guests are on their own. In addition, it is time for YOU to vote on which House Guest will receive the “Power of the Coup d’Etat.” The winning House Guest can only use this power once during a two week period, and only the person that receives the power will know it until they choose to reveal it themselves. The winner of the “Coup d’Etat” will have the ability to overthrow the Head-of-Household and replace the nominations right before one of the two live show votes that will take place between now and August 13. You can vote via www.CBS.com/BigBrother or text the number of their selection to 81818. Votes will be accepted until 11:59 pm PT Tuesday, August 4, 2009.

That’s it for this week…I need to go lay down…the Head of Household Competition made me dizzy!

VIEWER QUESTIONS:

Do you have to monitor the outdoors 24/7 to prevent people from throwing items into the backyard? It certainly doesn’t look like it would be very difficult to sneak up on the east side and throwing something over the wall.

The House Guests are in a secure area and guarded 24/7!!

Don’t you think there should be restrictions on how many people can be in the HOH room and for how long? I think it would be much more interesting if HOH could only have 1 guest at a time, and an overnight guest if they choose but force the HOH to mingle with EVERYONE in the house instead of hiding.

No, I don’t think we should put restrictions on how many people can be in the HOH room and for how long…this is how and where some of the best strategizing gets done. The HOH earns the right to hold court up there in whatever manner he or she wants. If the HOH chooses NOT to mingle with the others in the rest of the house…hopefully, the others will remember this behavior and act accordingly when the time is right.

I REALLY look forward to reading your blog every week Julie. I have watched every season of BB and have the utmost respect for you.

Also great to see that you have a good sense of humor about the show. I was dying last night when you told Jesse he was “lame” for not picking who he would want to be stranded on a deserted island with lol.

  • Alexis

I really think that if the house guests were smart, they’d target Jessie and Natalie…if not…they have the capacity to run the house, and we don’t want that.

  • Barry Chicago

For some reason, commenters seem to love Jeff and he’ll probably win the Coup d’Etat. I don’t find him very likeable and don’t think he is playing well. In addition, teaming up with that idiot Jordan has really hurt what little gameplay he has.

    • mo

I hope Jeff wins the ” coup d’etas ” and i hope if there is a god that he puts Jessie and Russel , or Jessie and Nathalie, that would be awesome!! now would really shake up the house and new leader might merge .

    • dbster

I Agree 100%, plus he was the first one to utter that F slur for gays.

      • SImon

Yeah, Jeff is nasty piece of work when things don’t go his way. Can’t wait til he’s on slop. I hope they take his tweezers away.

    • Jill

Jeff is playing it cool and is laying low for now. Jordan isn’t as dumb as you think she is, you just watch she’ll make it further then most of the others if not be in the final two!

    • Sally

The other houseguests are playing with ZERO class. I think Jeff and Jordan are the only two left that are actually playing morally. Jeff and Jordan may not be the best at this game but at least what you see is what you get with them.

    • BruceMpls

Your comments are interesting. Jeff, in fact, is the one of the most like able people in the house. But I do agree he may not be playing the most intelligent game. And don’t for a minute count out Jordan. She may appear to be an “idiot” but so too was the policeman in Cambridge and we all know how that turned out.

  • Adam

Julie, you are my favourite host on TV! I love how you ask the questions we all want to hear, and you don’t hold back. Also great blog!

  • Shotgun

Russell seems to be willing to turn the house on it’s ear, so I hope he wins the Coup d’Etat.Somebody PLEASE get rid of Natalie, then Jessie is a sitting duck!

  • Shane

I can’t wait for Ronnie to get kicked out. His condescending attitude when Casey mentioned his name at the Eviction made me sick. In the beginning, I appreciated his cunning and deception. The more times passes, however, I find him to be a complete chump. He is the typical dork. He thinks an athlete(Jessie) has his back, and will keep him safe. Therefore he can be as big of a jerk that we wants to. I was a nerd backin high school. The difference is I am 6′3″ and 250 lbs, so I didn’t need to have a bodyguard protect me. I can hold my own. It’s only a matter of time beofre Ronnie gets voted out. There’s no way he’s going to make. I only hope he goes in the most embarrasing, humiliating way possible. I’d love to see him leave the house bawling his eyes out, his awkward pot-belly jiggling every step of the way. Send him home to his extremely patient and quite possibly deaf wife. Chima’s the next chump on my list……..

    • dbster

He’s playing the game. Casey deserves everything he got.

    • Sarak

Save it for your therapist, Shane. Do you really expect sympathy from anonymous commenters?

      • Shane

not looking for symapthy..just a place to post my opinion…moron

  • mo

WOW rating went up little, when Jordan was tanning and they had a close up on her DD chest ! got my attention … oh PS : i cannot wait for jessie , Nathalie, Weasle Ronnie ,,, to join Princess Julie on her couch !

  • Erika

I also hope that Jeff or Jordan get the secret power (I am not going to try to spell it:) ). Julie, I also LOVED it when you called out “lame!” for Jessie not answering your question. I cannot wait to see how the secret power comes out in the end. Hopefully it will go to someone who is not afraid to use it. Like if Michelle got it, as long as she wasn’t on the block, I don’t think she’d use it. Same for Chima. They’re happy just floating along and trying to stay on top.

    • B Block

Unless it’s something she can stuff in her mouth, Jordan will have no idea what to do with it.

  • Question

    Julie,
Do the houseguests speak to or see ANYONE while in the house? Like, how are they asked questions in the diary room?

  • lynn

PLEASE GET RID OF RONNIE CANT STAND THE WAY HE IS PLAYING THE GAME. I HOPE JEFF WINS THE”Coup d Etat”, THIS WAY WE CAN SEE HOW WELL HE IS PLAYING THE GAME…..MAYBE THEN HE WOULD GET RID OF JESSIE OR NATALIE THEN THE GAME WOULD BECOME FUN TO WATCH AGAIN AS OF NOW YOU CAN TELL WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN NEXT. LOVE THE SHOW… THIS YEAR NOT SO MUCH EVERYBODY WHO WAS FUN TO WATCH IS GOING HOME TO EARLY, AND REALLY WHO WANTS TO WATCH JESSIE NATALIE & RUSSEL THEY REALLY DO THINK THEY ARE BACK IN SCHOOL. SO I HOPE THINKS GET MIXED UP A BIT..CASEY WAS REALLY FUN TO WATCH THE TIME HE HAD EVERYONE PLAYING MUSIC WITH WHATEVER THEY COULD FINE TO BEAT ON THAT REALLY WAS COOL….

    • Bogart

Uhh, Lynn, you can already see how well Jeff is playing the game. TERRIBLY!!! He is a dolt.

      • Robin

And what show are you watching? Jeff is TERRIBLY GOOD!!!

  • Martha

I love the game and Julie, the best host on reality TV.. you ask the questions we want to hear and the chickens did not answer them.. not what this show is about.. how rude.. answer the HOSSSST!!!! I am, however tired of Jesse, Natalie, and Ronnie trying to second guess “production”. They are assuming too much and making for boring after hours viewing..unfortunately, from week one, these three took the happy fun times out of bb. Their severe hatred began too early and to such a strong degree so early..??? there have not been enough happy stupid times watching the HGs entertain themselves.. we watch Nat, and Lydia cook for Jesse and then he prays forever..(is he praying for every muscle in his body to be nurished??? and, the oh yes, i forgot to thank lydia for cooking such a good meal for me.. and she does not get his sarcastic rudeness???… )then he pigs out, burps, poops and is arrogant… …I basically don’t like contestants that think they know more than the producers.. the first three evictions would have made for some great TV… conflict is evident bc of the type of show. I CAN’T WAIT UNTIL RUSSELL PUTS SOME SPICE ON THEIR PLATES AND SHAKES UP THE HOUSE… PLEASE RUSSELL!!!
I think Jesse learned enough about the D.R. not to let it mess his head up and is passing his knowledge to Ronnie and Nat. bc they don’t seem to be effected like the others in the past…perhaps it was not a good idea bringing him back…I did not care for him then and don’t now.. I like Jeff..but, he should have kept Casey…Jordan is not a strong enough player to help him.. although i like her..hopefully, kevin, russell, and J & J can unite a new regime!!!!!Now that would be some good tv!!!remember Dick.. they did not back door him and he had nine lives and so will Ronnie..

    • lynn

I TOALLY AGREE WITH EVERYTHING YOU SAID…….

      • Martha

thanks.. i just needed to vent.. i am so addicted to bb.. i know i need a life!! but it is such fun and entertaining.. this group could have been so great.. i don’t think they should have peeps that are or think they know so much about bb… memorising the past s hows is not really the object for victory.. but learning from other’s mistakes.. rule one: no shomance.. two: pic an alliance but keep it secret(but not the same night you meet peeps.. feel them out and how the dynamics work: three: eat drink and be merry for it is only a game…i can’t wait to watch the show in the morning that i record nightly!!!

  • Tammy

Please BB lovers nominate Jessie and Ronnie for eviction and if Veto comes in put up Natalie. Either eviction will put major major dent in the ‘Nat, Jess, & Ron’ super alliance.

    • Bogart

“BB lovers” don’t do the nominating; the HoH does it.

    • WTF

Are you and Jordan related? I think you’re both sharing one brain.

  • mo

I think the trio ” jessie , Ronnie and Nat , are the most hated guests in BB history ,, can someone name another trio ??

    • Mike

      Howie, Jen & Kaysar…

      • Bogart

I think Maggie and the Nerd Herd were most hated. None of them were even given a chance to come back for All Stars. Kaysar received something like 67% of the vote to return to the house. He is one of the most popular BB people of all time.

    • cathy

      Maggie, Cappie and Yvette!

  • Benji

Julie, you are the best thing about Big Brother!
I really hope someone (Jeff or Jordan) gets the Coup d’Etat and uses it to take down Natalie or Jessie!
    WOO!

  • BigBrotherFan

Julie, love the show and love your comments. I am a big fan of Big Brother. It amazes me how people are always changing inside the house based on what’s presented to them. However, I have to say that I would like to see the viewers more involved when it comes to evictions. We should be the ones choosing who to evict based on the nominations the house makes. I am so sick and tired of seeing “team” Jesse, Nathalie and Ronnie running the house it’s not even funny. It was priceless to see Jesse’s face, when Julie announced the “Coup d’Etat” – that’s right Jesse, we have all been watching what is going on there and no one is really rooting for you nor your team mates. I do hope Jeff wins the secret power, and uses it wisely… Jesse and Nathalie should go up against each other, so we can see their true colors… once one of them is out the one staying should go up against Ronnie and one by one they should all go home…

    • BruceMpls

I agree with your idea of putting up Jesse and Natalie and thought that would have been an excellent idea this week. Put up Ronnie and Natalie. Jesse would fight his posterior off to keep her and vice versa. But, I don’t agree with the fans making decisions as to who is voted out. Fans tend to be too opinionated, emotional, and less informed than the people in the house. I agree quite often the “bad guys” win, but that’s the nature of the game.
