'Pumas': Isn't Jennifer Aniston better than this?

jennifer-aniston-puma-movie_lJennifer Aniston will star in a movie called Pumas, which will follow two 30-something women as these wily feline creatures go about their daily routine of wooing younger men and marking the boundaries of their territory with their urine. Then suddenly! Jen ‘n’ friend wil “take a French skiing vacation that challenges their expectations.” We’ve already rolled our eyes at Courteney Cox’s TV series Cougar Town, which premieres in September. Now this? Pumas? Really? Jennifer Aniston, what the hell are you doing?

I’m gonna go out on a limb here (watch out below, teenage boys walking home from school!) and guess that it’s probably okay to give the still totally popular women from Friends their own projects and not title said projects after wild animals. Enough already. That’s about all I have to say about Pumas, which I hope will be sponsored by Nike.

Girl needs to get a movie deal that doesn’t blow. Lisa Kudrow has delivered some quality post-Friends material, even Cox has given us the slightly-better-than-mediocre Dirt! Why not Aniston?

  • Wojo

The only way I’d see this would be if Jen ‘n’ friend were tracked by a pair of senile, shotgun-wielding poachers throughout the movie.

    • mscisluv

      That would be awesome!

    • Mio

      I would watch that!

  • readinrobin

I’ll probably see it because I love Jennifer Aniston, but I really don’t understand why she isn’t offered more quality projects. She’s a fantastic actress.

  • H

Um, the answer is no. She isn’t better than this. People need to quit trying to make her into something she’s not. She’s pretty and thin. Beyond that, not much to offer.

    • chris

anyone that saw derailed knows that she is better than this

      • anna

She was terrible in Derailed, thats why it flopped. Good storyline, bad acting. She is in no way better than this, H is right. This IS Aniston were talking about. “Friends” called, they want their Rachel character back, lol.

    • Pastancheese

You called it–pretty and thin. I’ve waited years for her to choose something beyond the mediocre. And don’t give me Derailed, it was just okay. Hasn’t happened yet. Pretty unlikely it ever will.

      • Mike

Clearly you’ve never taken the time to watch her in “Good Girl” or “Friends With Money.” She was fantastic in both. And before you try making a statement to the contrary, give the review of her performance a look. Anyone with any appreciation for acting can recognize the quality of those performances.

      • Chris

        The Good Girl

    • Isembard

I’m with you there. She’s not exactly a great actress, and 99.9% of the stuff she acts in is predictable, dull garbage. If she has some real talent, she needs to find a project that shows it.

  • anna

Yet another vehicle to show her “range”. This woman is so overrated and overexposed.. in my opinion. Do we really need another Aniston movie based on her pathetic life? Can’t she just get married, have or adopt a baby, anything to distract her from spitting out these endless lame movies?

  • Rossy

She was good in ‘The Break-Up’… But, not the best actress ever. ‘Derailed’ was mediocre at best, and ‘He’s Just Not That Into You’ was crap. Jennifer, just keep doing those SmartWater ads.

  • Jeff

“Isn’t Jennifer Aniston better than this?” In a word, no. Aniston is tragic and pathetic. She can’t maintain a relationship because she’s too high maintenance and she’s past her prime look-wise. I can’t stand her.

    • KJ

Hmmm…and you are saying this because of all of your close personal contact with Jennifer Aniston???? Highly doubtful! Stop hating on the girl-she is and actress and what do actresses do…that’s right, they MAKE MOVIES! The girl is just making a living so give her a break! If you don’t like her don’t see her movies it’s that simple. Some people, myself included, think she is a class act and is also a very talented actress.

    • Isembard

Okay, that’s an idiotic thing to say. First, you don’t know the woman; in fact, you know nothing more than what you might have picked up from the highly-reliable tabloids. Secondly, what would anything about her personal life have to do with her projects and/or performances?

      • Jeff

I don’t need to know her. She has had a series of failed relationships and all indications are that she is very difficult to deal with.

  • Rossy

She stopped being somebody when Friends ended, and when she divorced Brad Pitt. Peace!

  • MsDaisy

Isn’t she better than this? Uh, not really.

  • Jelana

When I was in my mid-twenties, Friends came on the air. I thought “cool, a show about people my age.” Well, here’s the flip side of that. I have to endure those same actresses perpetuating the cougar/puma stereotype about women my age. It annoys me. I won’t watch any of it, an approach the creators should probably heed since I think I probably am the target audience.

And Aniston has the power to pick better roles than this, so the answer to your question is no.

  • LoveDaRocker

I am with you. I have seen flashes of greatness here and there, but wonder, why aren’t good scripts flying her way?
She looks great, she draws attention, and (IMO) she can act (see Good Girl).
Maybe producers in Hollywood know something we don’t? Maybe getting good acting out of her is too hard? Maybe she is just too expensive (and thus, too much of a risk) for a serious drama?

  • Mike

It’s a bit ludicrous to judge an entire movie based on the title and two sentences, but I suppose any reason to talk about Jennifer Aniston is a good one, right? In any case, I’m glad she picks a variety of roles. She does dramas, comedies, thrillers…why have her play the same role over and over again?

  • yaya38

Friends was a silly show about three metrosexual males and three silly women (Kudrow’s dumb blonde was the worst). It required little range of talent. Now that the actors have gone out on their own, their lack of talent is exposed, most especially Aniston, whose hairstyle, skinny body, and boyfriend Brad Pitt kept her going longer than she deserved. I hope she’s saving her money.

  • anne

Why don’t you people who don’t know her STOP assuming that you do. Wow, it is totally amazing how
you can criticize someone who is successful and BTW
second top earner in the business. I guess someone must like her!!

  • Kelley

Are you kidding me, Pitt is so over rated! She did a good thing by divorcing him….he is a total loser.
You can knock Aniston all you want – she is in great demand in the movie business. Besides there is not one actor/actress around who hasn’t made
films that flop. More power to Jennifer!!
