I agree with Susan that this is all a huge publicity grab. I don’t think Paula is going anywhere. Honestly I don’t care anymone. Four judges is too much though. Way too much time spend on the talking heads and not enough with the contestants. The Kara experiment didn’t pan out, kick her to the curb already. This Paula nonesense is just keeping AI in the news.
I don’t think it’s publicity. I think they are in hard negotiations. I wonder how much hard negotiating they did with the guys.
Keep Paula. She is nice and had lots of “relevant” things to say – eventhough it was clear that she was 2-3 sheets in the rain. A big part of the fun is to see how she pulls it though – she has always had. Paula rules!!!! And by the way – get rid of Cara. About this negotiation – Paula, get a new manager/agent – whoever advise you in this negotiation did you a bad service. No one goes from $20 to $12. Best of luck Paula & see you next year – am sure!!!!
Its funny. All the talk about how Ryan is famous and brings viewers. When the show began, we tuned in to see Paula. She was the celebrity we all loved and were glad to see in the spotlight again.
Sure she is loopy and probably high. But if you injured your back you’d be medicated all the time too.
What has she done so that’s so wrong? She is as important to the show as Ryan. I feel like Ryan and Simon’s homophobic banter is far worse than Paula’s long winded comments have ever been.
I say dump Ryan and bring in Cat Deely from SYTYCD (love her)!
Bring Jody Watley on instead of Paula. Kick Kara OFF. Make the judges offer CONSTRUCTIVE criticism instead of just “I liked it” or “I didn’t like it.” Tell them HOW to improve, not just that “it’s like eating ice” to watch/listen to them.

Keep Paula! I say they should give her what she wants & deserves. Seems to me that she’s been underpaid this entire time in comparison to the others, anyway. Paula SHOULD be on this show. Her and Simon both. As for Randy & Kara, it doesn’t matter to me.

Slezak! I miss your weekly videos and Idol education! I can’t imagine they will let Paula go…even if they do it’s not like she doesn’t have enough cash to survive…or she may switch to Survivor: Idol outcasts.
It’s Simon Cowell who they need to get rid of. He’s mean. Of course, there are meaner people. We want to keep Paula and Kara.
They need to change the position of the judges. Put Paula first, then Randy, then Kara and Simon. See how that works.

As for Paula, she is my magical sparkle pony princess of wishes and rainbows and Fuzzy Navel-fueled disco fever dreams. I don’t think they can really dispense with her keen ability to make even Randy Jackson look coherent and semi-verbal at times. Whatever amount of money Paula wants to continue spouting off feel-good nuggets of nonsense through a haze of language-delay and intoxication while dressed like a Lisa Frank explosion, it is WORTH IT 19E. Worth It.

It’s sexism, that’s all. The guys get the big bucks and the women the crumbs. Whether Paula is worth $12 Million or not, she’s certainly not worth $3-$4Mill. Kara just signed and she got “substantially” less than the guys. And I’ve been writing this till I’m blue — AI is slanted towards the male singers too, because they want a male attracts female groupies on the tour stops.
OOPS I mean she’s worth MORE than $3-4Mil.
I too am sick of the Kara bashing. The dynamics of the show has been thrown off a bit but I don’t know if I’d place that blame squarely on her.
The fact of the matter is that this show would survive without Paula Abdul. Without Simon, the ratings would plummet. She’s of little consequence to the ratings and probably doesn’t deserve the 10 figure salary she’s seeking. This show is due for a change and I’m not so sure I’d be sad to see her go.
