    1. The Dark Knight (absolute game changer for all comic book/super hero films to come)
    2. Spiderman (in my opinion reinvented Super hero movies, and made them into blockbuster films. perhaps the most beloved super hero franchise of all time)
3.LOTR (the whole trilogy) (never has there been such an epic film, atleast that i have seen)
    4. The Hangover (Comedies are my second favorite genre and while you couldn’t go wrong with this, or any movie Directed by judd apatow, this one gets my nod)
    5. The Incredibles (Every single pixar movie deserves a spot on this list, this one is my favorite though)
Honorable mention: Superman 2, Gladiator, The 40 Year Old Virgin, The Departed, Almost Famous, Batman Begins, Slumdog Millionaire, and Finding Nemo.
And the only remaining movie being released this year that I feel that has a shot to enter this list for the decade, Avatar.

No competition: the Lord of the Rings series.

  • Jason

To Didi: It was The Joker that crashed Bruce Wayne’s party, not Heath Ledger. Heath Ledger: Actor, Bruce Wayne: Character. It would have been really weird if Heath Ledger showed up in the middle of that move as himself.

Batman Begins. Every time I take a trip it’s the DVD I reach for. So well done and completely reinvigorated the franchise — imo it’s even better than the Dark Knight.

“Fight Club” was released in Oct 1999, so I don’t think it goes into the mix for the best film of the ’00s. My list of faves from this decade would probably include Million Dollar Baby, The Queen, Juno, Cold Mountain and The Dark Knight.

  • J

    1. Once- Playing Falling Slowly in music shop
    2. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind- When Jim Carrey goes to the beach in the beginning of the film…just looks bleak and heartbreaking
    3. Anchorman- One of the few films I can quote over and over and rewatch
    4. Garden State- Best soundtrack and now the standard for indie romances
    5. The 40 Year Old Virgin- Anything Jane Lynch says is gold.

  • caitlin

How can it not be the LOTR trilogy? Not since Star Wars had the fans freaked me out so much. It was innovative, and with so much gold it can’t be ignored.
