Seriously, Emmy "jidges"? Seriously? Okay, I'm with you on most of the nominations — yay for Jim Parsons and the cast of 30 Rock! – but how in your bloody minds could you leave out Cat Deeley (pictured, left), the venerable host of So You Think You Can Dance?
Is anyone else as angry as I am over this egregious reality host snub? Sure, folks like Jeff Probst (Survivor) and Ryan Seacrest (American Idol) certainly deserve to be in contention. But I'll take Cat any day over Top Chef's Padma Lakshmi (pictured, right) and, yes, even Project Runway's Heidi Klum, two reality hosts who snagged Emmy nods for proving they can simply read off a cue card. (Or maybe voters were swayed after watching Padma eat a burger?) Cat, on the other hand, has gone above and beyond: During her four-season tenure as the host of the awesome dancing reality show, she has displayed genuine enthusiasm for the show's subject, provided a shoulder for the dancers when needed, and placed a contestant's set of grillz in her own mouth for laughs. How does that alone not garner a nod?
Anyone else screaming bloody hell?! Are voters too busy during summer vacation to watch the Fox hit? When will Cat get her due?

How many blogs are you going to have on Emmy snubs. We get it, not everyone’s favorites made it, get over it.
I completely agree, when I read the Emmy noms, the one major snub that I saw was Cat Deeley. She is the most personable host on tv right now, not to mention that she is nice and silly and really cares about the dancers. Cat Deeley should totally have gotten an Emmy nomination!
Shamrock, right on. I guess I must have missed the news of her getting snubbed from the other 100 blogs on EW crying about the same thing. Did Elizabeth Mitchell get nominated? (please don’t answer anyone, I was being sarcastic)
Here’s a simple solution…if you think there are too many blog entries on Emmy snubs, then don’t read them!
Regardless, I agree that Cat Deeley deserved some Emmy love, but the fact that SYTYCD got 4 choreography nods kind of makes up for that fact.
i 100% agree — she is the most endearing reality tv host that i’ve ever seen — she clearly cares about the contestants without being over-the-top (e.g., that god-awful sytycd canada host).
and though i loved your grillz reference, my personal favorite is when she LITERALLY got down on her hands and knees to place cheslie’s baby toe back in her shoe. lovely.
also, i personally love EW’s coverage of the emmys, particularly their opinions about snubs. i always find it to be a great source of new tv obsessions!
“…but how in your bloody minds could you leave out Cat Deeley (pictured, left), the venerable host of So You Think You Can Dance?”
Venerable? To borrow a quote: “You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.”
Alison, I don’t read them, just look at the headline, hard to miss them. You have any original posts or are you all done with your crack analysis a day late.
I agree that Cat being snubbed was just plain wrong (she’s probably the best host working today). However, while I agree that Heidi and Padma only prove that they’re good at reading off cue cards, you gotta remember that the two of them act not only as hosts, but as judges as well, which is why some Emmy voters may be partial to them. If anyone on that list stands out like a sore thumb, it’s Tom Bergeron. The man does well on red carpets, but his hosting on DWTS seems lackluster to me.
Cat’s lack of a nomination was definitely the one that most stuck out to me — esp when put side by side with Padma, who’s barely conscious most of the time, and Heidi, who’s only in each episode for about 4 minutes. BAAAAADly done, Emmy people!!
Nope, I’ll stick with my day-late crack analysis and defense of the wonderful Miss Deeley : )
um…i think you mean “judges” not “jidges” in the first sentence. how am i the only person to notice that?
Cat’s the best!
Alexandra, you weren’t, just the first person petty enough to point it out.
@Alison, keep me posted. Let me know later today or tomorrow if she gets nominated.
the “jidges” thing is because that is how Cat pronounces “judges”
