– The music video for ‘Weird Al’ Yankovic’s “Skipper Dan” – In his latest video, featuring animation from frequent They Might Be Giants collaborator Divya Srinivasan, Al tells the sad story of a wannabe actor forced to take up work as a jungle cruise guide at Disney World’s Adventureland when the job offers don’t start pouring in. The lyrics manage to alternately tickle the funny bone and tug at the heartstrings, a rare feat for Yankovic.
– Trailer for ‘Despicable Me’ – It’s hard to tell just what the premise of this animated feature is from the preview, but with an enormous all-star cast of comedians including Steve Carell, Jason Segel, Kristen Wiig, Danny McBride, Russell Brand and Jack McBrayer (just to name a few!), and some very funny gags in the two and a half minute spot, is there any reason not to be excited?
– Comic-Con 2009 – Tickets are sold out, but there’s still much fun to be had next weekend keeping up with all the news coming out of San Diego.

Alan Ball, his “Towelhead” now out on DVD = amazing / “True Blood” = cult status. Miss “Six Feet Under,” the man has a knack for such wrought drama.

1. Grey Gardens on DVD – The tale of 2 disturbed, eccentric woman is captured beautifully in this HBO original movie. Look for Emmy nods for the two female leads.

3.500 Days of Summer – I hate using this phrase, but…Dear America, can we please make this cutesy, folksy, overall charming film this year’s Juno? Love, Film Obsessed Teenager

-The State on DVD!!!
the beginning of the end for Dirty Sexy Money – an absolutely devilish guilty pleasure!
Torchwood: Children of Earth. Gripping, terrifying, emotional & thought-provoking, the British sci-fi series turns political thriller with stunning results.
On my Must List is new episodes of “I Survived…” on the Bio Channel. These are inspiring true-life stories of survival from the people who lived them.
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. It’s the best romantic comedy I’ve seen in years.
10 Things I Hate About You. I didn’t expect it be be this funny.
1. Rhett Miller’s new self-titled solo album. Can’t stop listening to “I Need to Know Where I Stand”
2. http://mymilktoof.blogspot.com/ Totally the cutest thing on the interwebs right now.
3. SYTYCD. Best summer show ever.
I am so looking forward to the documentary Yoo-Hoo, Mrs. Goldberg. It’s about the woman who created and starred in the radio comedy show “The Goldbergs” which then became the first TV sitcom. She then won the very first Emmy for Best Actress! I love show business history, and this is so right up my alley.
