Must List Live!: Is the new Harry Potter movie too lovey-dovey? Plus: Daniel Radcliffe gives us his Must pick!

Categories: Harry Potter, Must List

When it comes to the Harry Potter movies, some people want to see him fall in love, and some people just want to see him cast spells: I suppose it all depends on what kind of wand you like to see him wave. (Poof! I just cast a spell of bawdiness!) Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is out today, and on Must List Live!, Dalton Ross says the movie has a bit too much romance, not enough abracadabra. Me, I say he’s just scared of cooties. And as a bonus, none other than Daniel Radcliffe stops by to give his own personal Must List pick: can you deduce what Harry Potter might pick?

Couldn’t understand a word he said. Something about Sherlock Holmes? Where’s the English subtitles?

Well, Harry’s growing so its only natural that he has more of a love life as for the rest of the characters.
Personally, I thought that HBP was so dark and edgy. I can’t imagine them adding more to that.

I just got home from watching this and a few reviews said there was too much lovey dovy but I don’t think so. There was a lot of romance suggestions in the book and the movie followed that but not to the extent of the book. I was afraid it was going to be too much too after those reviews since I hate that but it was just right. I loved the movie.

Am I the only one who sees the problem in reviewing the faults of a movie based on a book that everyone has already read??

  • Colin

The people that complain about the movie, basing their arguments on what parts of the book were left out, are missing the point. If you wanted to experience all of the parts of the book, then go re-read the book. The movie was brilliantly done, being able to weed out the unimportant plot lines and provide us with an exciting, suspenseful, and often hilarious movie. Besides, since the 7th book will be a two-part movie, some of the plot lines left open in this one will have plenty of time to be revisited in the next film(s).

The book was better. I didn’t want everything to make it to the movie, just the GOOD parts. So much unnecessary stuff and it missed the huge battle at the end.

well…per my review below, i DID think it was a bit 90210 — but still a good flick.

While I did miss parts of the book, specifically more of Voldermorts flashbacks, I think I enjoyed this film the most of the 6 so far. I always felt like they tried to pack so much of the story in that character development lacked in the films. This is the first where we really saw more layers to characters other than Harry. Specifically I thought Tom Felton was excellent at showing a tormented Malfoy, far deeper than his one note villian from the previous films.

I haven’t seen it yet but for those of you that don’t have teenagers living in your house, it is all about the hormones people! Harry might be trying to save the world from Voldermont, but he still is just a guy after all. And we pretty much know what the average teenage guy is thinking about 24/7, which I am sure is obvious in a movie full of teenagers. The threat of Voldermont and his minions are secondary really-right?

the movie was alright but not because of the romance…personally i love that aspect…it makes it more real
but the way it was edited threw me off

Personally, i don’t really like how they messed up the love scene between Harry and Ginny, but the quote from Ron saying “Did you and Ginny do it?” following the scene was really funny. intended or not.

    i dont think so
