…(*as a voter, I must confess that Corbett probably needs little lobbying; he is a reported ‘sure thing’ among several fellow TV writers, more likely for Lead in Comedy*) — raising an issue in terms of his [Corbett's] possible snub and Byrne’s, as both straddle the line between ‘lead’ and ‘supporting’ in their respective shows…they need lobbying in order to avoid vote-splitting (Supporting will prob. yield less votes/more likely wins, tragically). Essentially, Byrne IS the Lead of “Damages,” Glenn Close the Supporter, if one examines POV and screen-time. Farbeit to withhold her ANY kind of nomination–or another WIN–the single most compelling character on TV since Tony Soprano. (**All this from a non-biased writer for an HBO show…the BEST are truly from the rest…shhhh….). Best, worth mentioning at least once more…EVE BEST, Comedy. Just the kind of scene-stealer Christine Baranski triumphed as in “Cybill,” Meghan Mullally. BEST may have to wait for next year; debuted late.

Kevin McKidd has my vote for an EMMY NOMINATION!!! He is a brilliant actor and his portrayal of Owen on GA this year was amazing! Also his chemistry and connection with Sandra Oh was off the charts! Just love this couple! Also, I am crossing my fingers that this is the year that Sandra Oh finally gets her EMMY!

And I sadly have to agree with everyone who says that Elizabeth Mitchell doesn’t stand a snowball’s chance in hell to get nominated. I doubt she would crack an Emmy top 20 list let alone make the top 6. And I am also sure that this won’t change one bit with her new show V.

  • Lori

Definitely Ryan Kwanten and Nelsan Ellis from True Blood for best supporting actor. Those two, and what they do with their characters, make the show for me.

  • Ceballos

If we’re talking longhots, I HAVE to say Walton Goggins for the final season of “The Shield.”
He was so good and heartbreaking, he stole the show right from under Michael Chiklist

  • Rachel K

I’m all for showing the love to Grace Park for BSG and Bruce Campbell in Burn Notice.

For the past several years I’ve hoped Elizabeth Mitchell and Michael Emerson would win Emmys. If the Emmy ptb really want to honor great acting, EM and ME will not only be nominated this year but will also win. They’re the creme de la creme of Lost when it comes to acting. And this year I’d also like to see a nomination for Josh Holloway (who, once and for all, proved he’s not just a pretty face—somebody already said that in an earlier post but it’s worth repeating).
I also second a nomination for Annie Wersching of 24. She was wonderful as Renee.

i agree with Amy212106, Amy Brenneman was soooooo amazing on the finale, you could feel every emotion she portrayed for her character. She totally deserves a nom. no doubt. her whole preformance was intense

    Nelsan Ellis (Lafayette- True Blood)
    Jeremy Davies (Daniel Faraday- Lost)
    Micheal Emerson (Benjamin Linus- Lost)
    Rutina Wesley (Tara- True Blood)
    Elizabeth Mitchell (Juliet Burke- Lost)
and for Best Supporting female in a Comedy:
    Kristen Wiig (Saturday Night Live)

  • Melissa

What about Pauley Perette (Abby) and David McCallum (Ducky)from NCIS? NCIS is one of the highest rated shows on TV today and yet NCIS never gets any love.

I would be de Shocked if Rose Byrne get a nomination for her acting in Damages. She was even worse this season!
To answer your question, these are the actresses who should be nominated:
    Marcia Gay Harden – Damages
    Elisabeth Mitchel – Lost
    CCH Pounde – The Shield
Connie Britton – Friday Night Lights
    Rachel Griffiths (Brothers & Sisters)
Honourable mansion: Alison Pill ( In Treatment),Ginnifer Goodwin (Big Love), Katey Sagal (Sons of Anarchy), Chloe Sevigny (Big Love),Christina Hendricks (Mad men)

  • Andrew

I would’ve liked to have seen Amy Jo Johnson from “Flahpoint” get nominated.

  • cathy

Jensen Ackles!! He is a terrific actor, and I would love to see him receive that recognition.
