No one is worse than the twins who play the teenage Scavo boys. I think of all the teens that have been on the show Andrea Bowen is the least offensive, along with Shawn Pyfrom. But I really don’t watch the show for the teens. Thankfully there are plenty of older, interesting characters played by better actors to enjoy.
Though I agree that Bowen isn’t a good actress, I also believe that she did have a nice rapport with Teri Hatcher. That may more to due with Teri Hatcher’s strength as an actress than Bowen’s, however. I agree that they could use some better young actors on the show, but who is going to top Hatcher/Huffman/Cross/Longoria? I’m not sure you could find a better combination of women in the four of them.
I’ve always liked Andrea Bowen on the show. She does a great job in the role of Susan’s mother. Seriously, Andrea and Teri have a great rapport. Also, I’ve enjoyed Madison De La Garza this year as Carlos and Gabrielle’s daughter Juanita. As a child actor, she manages to show some amusing facial expressions when playing off Eva Longoria Parker.
Have to say I agree with the others posting comments, Michael. Methinks EW was trying too hard to find something to write amid summer reruns. Go easy on Miss Bowen!
Maiara Walsh (Carlos’ scheming niece Ana) is a very talented young actress playing the role she’s been assigned. Wait til you see her in “The Prankster” due for theatrical release later this year. Cute, appealing and funny. Check out theprankstermovie.com
I have never found any of the young actresses to be unconvincing in their roles. First, they are young people in minor supporting roles. For what is asked of them they perform admirably. I’m shocked and really confused as to why there’s a need for EW to constantly attack the women of Desperate Housewives. It’s as if they can do nothing right when it comes to EW. Even the wonderful news of Drea De Mateo joining the cast gets twisted negatively. If you have an unhealthy bias against Desperate Housewives or ABC then don’t cover either. But, don’t expect people clever enough to see the wolf behind the sheeps clothing to not recognize what’s going on here. All of the women from the oldest nosy neighbor to the precious baby girls of Gaby Solise have their own showcase moments. EW however, is all too eager to put a negative spin on anything Desperate Housewives. It’s really cool though. Desperate Housewives TRUE FANS aren’t going anywhere.
The absolute worst young actress on Desperate Housewives was the actress that played Katherine Mayfair’s daughter. It was almost painful watching her.
Heh. Teri Hatcher is what makes this show unwatchable for me.
Rachel Bilson (Summer from The O.C) hasn’t work in awhile (right?).
I actually prefer to see Summer Glau in Dollhouse.
Summer Glau is a phenominal actress who is destined for the big leagues.
She’s too good for Desperate Housewives.
NOOOOOOOO!!!!!. Summer, please don’t do it. Being a slut is NOT a positive role model.
I’ve been watching actors all my long life, and I’ve NEVER seen a better actor than Summer Glau.
If anyone thinks that she reads lines: they’re incorrect. There is a world of subtlety going on that is perfectly intended, and extremely difficult to do.
If you doubt me: check out the first episode of season 2 of TSCC, “Samson and Delilah”. The scene toward the end between the trucks, where she pleads for her life is the single most emotional scene I’ve ever seen.

Summer Glau is too good an actor to be stuck in a piece of crap series liek Desperate HW (desperate viewers?)
Brendan I second your choice of that scene.
Summer has done an excellent job and has brought life to an inanimate object; the subtleties of her characterization are wonderful to watch.
Screw DHW, we need another season of TSCC
Okay with Andrea but Walsh? She only was 10 minutes or less in the last episode you can’t judge her acting.. I think she´ll be great in season 6 give her time.
Why are people complaining that Summer Glau is too good for the role? What better way for her to enter the mainstream and have people take notice than for her to appear in a show which is famous for turning people into A-listers? And if anyone deserves to be A-list (not just in sci-fi circles and cult fans) then its Summer Glau.
