'Kings': Why Syfy should bring it back from the dead

I missed last night’s premiere of the newly minted Syfy Channel’s Warehouse 13 — though judging by Ken Tucker’s take, I didn’t miss much — Read the full post.

I have spent the last 9 days watching the entire season of “Kings.” Incredible. Ian McShane is better here than on “Deadwood.” Having SyFy buy, produce, and continue this adaptation of the Book of Samuel would cement SyFy (god I hate that name) as a solid network. I haven’t watched SciFi regularly since the BattleStar finale. Ghost Hunters? Eureka? Please.

I have really enjoyed Kings. I wish it would get picked up by someone, but it didn’t exactly get the ratings that attrack a pick up… At least they are still showing them?

A big part of the poor ratings is that viewers have been burned before and are wise to the networks’ game – why should anyone start getting invested in ANY new show if it will more than likely be yanked off the air in 5 weeks? They can’t even commit to a time slot for a show that will only last 13 weeks (Harper’s Island). Until networks show a bit more faith in their own shows, good luck getting anyone to watch anything new.

I wholeheartedly agree. Kings was one of the best shows on in a very long time, and NBC blew it. Not that that is much of a surprise, as they have a longer history of failure in recent years, than anything akin to success. Put Kings on SyFy and I promise, you’ll have me watching.

I absolutely love Kings and agree that it would fit perfectly on another network like Syfi. I wonder if it’s worth trying to mobilize the few remaining fans…

I was so confused why the words “Modern Retelling of the King David story” were nowhere on any of the advertising. It was money just waiting to be made and it’s like they tried to hide it, like NBC was ashamed of using the Bible as any kind of source materal. Weird. I know that’s why I tuned in–well, that and Ian McShane’s overall badassery.

    Make it happen, SyFy. Please.

I love Kings also. Maybe if we contact NBC and tell them that if they yank am actual decent show off the air once again then we will not watch anything they have on, not that there is much worth watching.

This show is one of the best on television. I agree that it’s the fault of NBC that the ratings are poor. I was so bummed when I found out they were canceling it, so yes, PLEASE, someone in another network, bring back Kings next year!

I’ve loved Kings since I first saw it. I would follow it where ever it went, not to mention that I’ve always thought it would do better on a cable channel who could give it the attention it deserves.

It’s amazing how much buzz there was for this in NBC after the pilot. I mean, people I talked to were in awe of it like nothing else for years. Then it seemed like someone panicked right before it started to air, and the wind went right out of its sails.
It’s a unique show, so probably not for everyone … yet MAN it’s powerful stuff.

If Syfy picked up Kings, they would tie with USA as my favorite television network. I love Kings. The characters are so interesting and we are finally starting to get somewhere in the story, and now there are only a few episodes left! Grr. NBC is really pissin’ me off. First Life, then Kings, then Medium, c’mon! Have a little taste NBC and get rid of “I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here”.

Thank you!!! I scoured the web for tidbits on KINGS during its initial run on NBC and was amazed I couldn’t find anything. I’m still watching faithfully, in hopes SOMEONE will pick it up. What a great show, dynamic, compelling and full of rich characters. Finally NBC brought us a great show, only to take for granted what they hand! Bring back KINGS! It’s totally worth it!
