    DENIS LEARY!!

William McCoy, I’m right there with you in your love for Life and mourning its passing. It was one of the best shows on TV, and Damien Lewis was one of the biggest reasons.
I also agree with the votes for Kyle Chandler, Connie Britton, and Josh Holloway. I would also nominate Jonny Lee Miller, who says volumes just with facial expressions.

I completely agree with you on Regina King. I was surprised with how good Southland is and she is one of the big reasons why.

Lead Actor: Josh Holloway- Lost or Micheal Emerson-Lost (if not supporting actor)
    Lead Actress: Chandra Wilson-Grey’s Anatomy.

Kyle Chandler – Friday Night Lights
Connie Britton – Friday Night Lights
Both great actors and highly under rated as is the show.

Seriously, if Mary McDonnell doesn’t win an Emmy for her role as Laura Roslin, I’m going to start throwing things. She’s hands-down my favorite actress in a drama, EVER.
She even managed to survive the schlocky final season of BSG where everyone bawled in every other scene with her dignity and badassness intact, and that deserves an Emmy right there!

vincent denofrio in law and order criminal intent.

If Mary McDonnell doesn’t win an Emmy for her role of Laura Roslin, I will seriously punch something. I’ve never loved a female character on television as much as I loved Laura Roslin. She managed to be a whole person, and Mary McDonnell deserves an Emmy just for getting Laura Roslin through the schlocky final season of BSG with her dignity and badassness intact, which is more than I can say for any of the other characters. So say we all!

I agree that the two leads from Friday Night Lights should be recognized, but how about the best show on TV, Supernatural? This season Jensen Ackles had to handle so much of the load and he played it perfectly. This should be a year to recognize one of the most original (and underrated) shows and Jensen proved he is more than deserving of some recognition.

Leary as Tommy Gavin. Outstanding performances each and every season.

Don’t the actors and actresses have to submit a video of one of their shows or scenes to be considered for an Emmy? I don’t think awards are given for their collective work on their show. Who votes for these awards anyway? I too was one of those people completely disappointed in losing Life. And I agree about the Battlestar Gallactica stars Olmos and McDonnell. TV is getting worse and worse…and now through the summer we get nothing but reality TV shows….Ugh!

Sorry, but I had to come back and try to rectify the same boneheaded mistake the Academy has made the past five years or so: I forgot about “The Shield.”
Michael Chiklis was absolutely phenomenal in the show’s swan song this past season, as everything in Vic Mackey’s world finally came crashing down. Also, I’m not sure if Walton Goggins would qualify as a lead, but, if he does, he also deserves a lead actor nomination (I’d actually say, more so than Chiklis.)

OK, if we’re going to say our out-there wish list, then let me put forth Jeffrey Donovan from Burn Notice. No, he doesn’t have the outbursts and emotional breaksowns needed to win an emmy, but he delivers exactly what the show and the moment need. And being easy on the eyes should not count against him.

Michael – I agree that SVU hasn’t been up to par these last few seasons (I so miss seasons 6,7,and 8), but I blame that on the writers and producers, not Chris and Mariska. They continually bring it because they are awesome actors. I think that Mariska does the best with what she’s been given, and she should be recognized for that (Chris should as well, but the Emmys seem to love her and hate him). The whole “best actor” thing seems more to do with writing than actual acting… which is why awards shows are so subjective, anyway. I’m still a loyal SVU viewer because I love Chris and Mariska, and I’ll continue to be – I just wish someone would place the blame when a show goes “completely off the rails” where it actually lies… with the writers and directors!

I definitely second the nomination of Simon Baker. The Mentalist may be catchy procedural stuff most of the time, but he took that character to some incredibly dark places too. The whole show rests on his performance.
