'Dead Like Me' on Hulu! By George!

Somewhere in my past or childhood, I must have done something pretty darn good, because hallelujah holy Moses, Dead Like Me is now on Hulu. All of it! Both seasons!

For a show with such a stunning pedigree — holla atcha, Bryan Fuller; we still love you — DLM flew kind of under the radar. It's a show I recommend to people all the time, especially to anyone who mentions liking Pushing Daisies or, seriously, Our Town. That whole "I can't go on. It goes so fast. We don't have time to look at one another" vibe? Combine that with a sense of whimsy and some hyperliteracy, and poof! Dead Like Me, the story of a group of Grim Reapers as told by their youngest member, the angsty college dropout George.

Who's with me, PopWatchers? Did you love this show when it was on, and are you pumped that its made its Web debut?

I don’t Hulu, but I like seeing DLM getting more exposure. I liked seeing most of the old gang back for that DVD movie and I can wish that DLM might get back to making new episodes…well, I can wish.

Funny you should mention this– my fiance’s nephew mentioned he was watching it over the 4th and I had to watch it again. It’s so good. I’m up to the season 2 premiere (which I missed the first time around), but my favorite episode so far is definitely “A Cook” (http://www.hulu.com/watch/78787/dead-like-me-a-cook#s-p2-n1-so-i0).
It’s odd to me how carried away the world gets about Megan Fox when Ellen Muth still draws breath.

Yay! I saw the 2nd season premiere the other day on TV and am happy to see Dead Like Me on Hulu. Of course it’s not as good as watching it on TV but at least others will discover the awesomeness that is DLM

I love DLM. What a great, dark, semi-twisted, poignant, funny show! It’s totally underrated. I just wish that I could get Hulu up here in the great white North. :(

In my experience, DLM takes a little more time to get into than Pushing Daisies or Wonderfalls (Fuller’s other creations). But it’s worth the effort. It’s a very good show over the course of its two seasons. I even liked the straight-to-DVD movie, which many die-hard fans did not.

I started getting season 1 from Netflix and fell in love w/it, so I was VERY disappointed when I found out there had been only 2 seasons.
I own both seasons now…I don’t know if I’ll ever get tired of watching “Dead Like Me.”

OMG, DLM is one of my all-time fav shows. I just bawled when it was cancelled. The recent direct-to-video was fun, but overall made me miss these wonderful characters all over again. *reaches for kleenex box*

After hearing such reviews, I finally watched the DLM pilot on Hulu. I didn’t really like it. Does it get better?

I wish people would stop attributing this show to Bryan Fuller, who notoriously left VERY early in its run due to clashes with Showtime. This is not a Bryan Fuller show.

  • TheButcher

According to IMDB Bryan Fuller Created DLM and is credited for writing 29 episodes. I don’t know much about what went on behind the scenes. Maybe you can shed some light on it and tell me whose show is it? Thanks

I cancelled showtime when DLM went away. I loved, loved, loved this show. Every halloween since the last episode I sit down at watch the last episode. Scares me every time!

Funny, I just got the 1st DVD from the library about a week ago…
I liked it enough (although, was really bummed after Betty left – I liked the character, despite being Noxzema girl). However, after hearing it was cancelled after 2 seasons, I stopped after Ep 6.
Does it have a satisfying conclusion? As much as I love Pushing Daisies, and recommend to people, I have to warn them about abruptly ending.
Is DLM the same way? Just wondering if I should continue watching.

The show itself isn’t bad. DO NOT watch the movie which is horrible and doesn’t have half the cast as the original show.

  • Alex

One of my favorites. The writing was so ON. And it also had the best profanity delivery of any show I’ve seen. Miss these guys. It was ahead of its time, I think.

1st seen the show one late night when i was awake at 2am. loved it so much that i looked it up. i have seen most of the episodes, and was sad to find that it only had a 2 season run. i love Mandy Patinkin… was sad to see he was not in the DVD movie, but if the show was brought back i would be hanging on every episode. liked Daisy better when played by Laura Harris.

i dont like being the barrier of bad news to all the other DLM fans but the possibility of them bring back DLM is very slim :( i am very big FireFly and all we got was a Movie, and talk of the sifi network picking up the show. (good thing i’m not holding my breath for it to return.)

if any one from MGM/showtime is looking for any sign this show should return… this is it… DLM is so much better than most of the crap on tv. we are tired of “reality tv” and i cant beleive that i read that you took DLM of to put on that stupid Kristy Alley show… it’s sad when a great show like DLM is sent to the tv grave yard… (punn intended) its hard to find smart tv in this day and age with the endless shows like big brother, jon and kate, and so you think you can dance. blah blah blah …. OMG i get soooo bored with crap tv…

well back to how great DLM is…
it’s great. love how the characters interact. love the cast and how the pull off a show like DLM. not actorr can do this kind of tv/movie. which is why the DVD is not as good.

so all in all i would say if you want a show that will make you laugh, cry, and think then watch DLM. i agree with Alex keep away from the Movie. it was of much lesser quility and i belive the only reason it was done was to placate the DLM fans.

    great quotes from DLM

George: I don’t want to fit in, I just don’t want to stand out.

Daisy Adair: If Romeo had just masturbated a couple of times a week he would have saved both those nice families a heap of trouble.

George: Yuck! This juice tastes like ass, here you try it!
Mason: No, thanks. I’m trying to stay off of the ass juice for now.
