This "Ode to the Indie" from The Rotten Tomatoes Show folks is supposed to poke fun of indie romances. But it only makes me love them more. It's practically an indie rendition of The Sound of Music's "My Favorite Things." My favorite things? Sad Bill Murray. Hand-drawn fonts. And Zooey Deschanel.
Oh. And headbands.
Kudos to Ellen and Brett, but I look forward to The Shins cover version.
What are some of your favorite indie-film staples?

Love it. Makes me love Indie films even more, too.
Favorite Indie Stuff:
Squalid Middle-America settings
Obscenely long camera shots with awesome indie music
That “I KNOW THESE PEOPLE, ONLY LESS EXTREME VERSIONS OF THEM!” feeling
This is so great!
My favorite indie staples? The SOUNDTRACK. It’s always full of brilliant music.
Edgy eye makeup (I’m not really a bad girl–I’m just troubled!), “unique” fashion choices that no real person could get away with, and loooong scenes of brooding thoughtfulness (I’m contemplating my existence!) scored by the latest in folk-rock. And Zooey Deschanel–singing.
Very cute…I don’t mind the indie romcoms, depending, but these are some annoying indie traits. I do yearn for the times when indie films did something other than stroke homely hipster boys’ egos, you know?
