Definitely watch on TV. You avoid the heat, the mosquitoes, the people falling down drunk and vomiting on you before the fireworks are half over, etc.

We drove up to West Point this year to watch the concert and fireworks there. Beautiful location and great fireworks over the Hudson.

Either one’s fine – with televised ones, though, you don’t have to deal with traffic and freaking out your kid with the really loud noises. We opted for televised this year (aforementioned toddler, and also a college pal of mine is a backup singer for Barry Manilow so we had to watch A Capitol Fourth!).

I see the Boston fireworks in person every year, and aside from the questionable music choices it’s fantastic. And Craig Ferguson hosts it so that makes it even better!

I live near Philadelphia, and there’s nothing like seeing a big display live. Since we (appropriately) have a 2 week long celebration for Independence Day, our fireworks display is as large as New York’s.
I’ve seen both of those live, but I have to hand it to the International Fireworks Competition/Festival in Montreal for the best large fireworks display I’ve ever seen…

I was unable to go to town and watch live fireworks and so was feeling sorry for myself until I was channel surfing and found the Macy’s New York fireworks show. It was spectacular and I didn’t feel as if I’d missed anything!
