Hey, everybody. Hope this Independence Day is treating you well. As consumers of pop culture, we at EW.com have got to know how you prefer to consume the ultimate July 4th pop culture event: fireworks. There are some spectacular ones on television every year, such as Macys’ 4th of July fireworks which aired tonight on NBC, or you may have a favorite local tradition that you must honor every year. To me, not even the most spectacular televised shows can compare to even the most quaint neighborhood display. Which do you prefer? Tell us in our poll below and have a great 4th of July!

its adorable!!!
I went to the Macy’s one live. It’s good to be a New Yorker. The trees blocked my view though, which was quite annoying. Maybe I’ll stay home next year and watch it on TV.
I watched the Macy’s one live as a New Yorker too… sorry your two comments so far have defeated the purpose of this vote!
The worst is when they televise the dinky local display. Atlanta knocked off Macy’s for the one at Centennial Olympic Park (Atlanta, of course, can’t get together to have one big display, they have like 5 of them). They don’t tell my Tivo, and so I miss Macy’s entirely. Sucks.

I was unable to go to town and watch live fireworks and so was feeling sorry for myself until I was channel surfing and found the Macy’s New York fireworks show. It was spectacular and I didn’t feel as if I’d missed anything!
I live near Philadelphia, and there’s nothing like seeing a big display live. Since we (appropriately) have a 2 week long celebration for Independence Day, our fireworks display is as large as New York’s.
I’ve seen both of those live, but I have to hand it to the International Fireworks Competition/Festival in Montreal for the best large fireworks display I’ve ever seen…
I see the Boston fireworks in person every year, and aside from the questionable music choices it’s fantastic. And Craig Ferguson hosts it so that makes it even better!

fireworks on tv are the most boring thing ever. you have to experience them LIVE!
Either one’s fine – with televised ones, though, you don’t have to deal with traffic and freaking out your kid with the really loud noises. We opted for televised this year (aforementioned toddler, and also a college pal of mine is a backup singer for Barry Manilow so we had to watch A Capitol Fourth!).
We drove up to West Point this year to watch the concert and fireworks there. Beautiful location and great fireworks over the Hudson.
Definitely watch on TV. You avoid the heat, the mosquitoes, the people falling down drunk and vomiting on you before the fireworks are half over, etc.
