I was actually often thinking about them having (not sex, but at least some petting) something going on, when I was about 12, 13, 14.
And then, just the next book, so many hidden sexual parts were there.
Hermione was around 14 or 15, when she said:" Well, Victor and me don't talk to much, our realationship is more on another level..." LOL - I mean - Hello, she gets red and looks away. I mean, that says alot!
Or Percy hanging out in dark classrooms with this Penelope Clearwater-girl...
Fleur Delacour hiding wildly making out in the bushes in front of Hogwarts after drinking butterbeer or sth like that...
I got shocked when I fisrt read that scene :D Didn't expect it though...
Harry and the ghost who wants to watch him and flirts with him.
Hermione and Ron kissing all the time when Harry decides "To leave them alone!"...
Or Harrys remebering of "The nice moments with Ginny at the lake", as well as "the secret things we did at hidden places"...and his Tatto on his chest ;) "more macho" what ginny said...
I mean, please.
Isn't that enough "Sex" in Harry Potter?!
I guess everyone can deals in his own way.
I can read the book as a (now 24 year) 16 year old, imagine Ginny and Harry making out in the hidden room, or believing the Slytherins won't be that straight with rules. And the bathroom Harry was in Order of Phoenix, the people will use this room probably quite ... different.
But I can also read the book to my 8 year old, without being embarresd with sexual things described.
I feel that JKR made a good mix out of growing up, falling in love and sexuality, WITHOUT making parents uncomfortable with their kids reading Harry Potter.
Sex is there, hidden (Hello, a gay Dumbledore... I mean, he was not a virgin, for sure... ehem...).
I feel there are enough things to be satisfied with. Someone who wants more sex should read different books...
I feel, that due to your age or interest in that field you can interpret things differently!
it doesnt have to be described detailled.
Just imagine ;)
But I've asked me honestly if Ginny had slept with dean... or just with Harry...
But anyways!
I grew up with HP!
And I am so happy, that sexuality was in there like it was.
Not to less, not to much!

in the twilight series the main characters do not get intimate until they are married - plus the Twilight books are targeted to an older, late teen audiance. Not 10 and 11 year olds, which is the typical readers that start the harry potter series

I agree that JK has just enough romance to balance out her audiance. Anyone who has read the entire series realizes that the last book would raise many a parental eyebrow with the cirmcumstances the three main characters place themselves in. The fact that there is nothing sexual involved is refreshing and may help teenagers deal better with the pressure of what they feel is expected in a teen relationship - not an adult relationship.

First of we all know that Ron nad Hermoine liked each other in the film and the book they just kept it to themselves and Second and most importantly they are childerns books and I think that everyone has put to much sex already in our kids life so leave the sex out of Harry Potter for once in your lives do the moral thing and stop pushing babies to have babies. and everyone wonders why there are so many teen pregnancies today hmmmm I wonder why

The characters are high school age, of course they kiss, people who grew up reading the books have all experienced teenage hormones, we are not talking about a wizard school full of unwed mothers. The books need to mature with the audience of 1997 who first started reading the books.

The sex and romance issues in Harry Potter are starting to make me really uncomfortable. The first movie was so magical, and they are now making them so solemn with all of this emphasis on the sex and romance between the characters. I don't remember the books being like that, and I find it very awkward to watch.

I think that sex is one of the biggest marketing ploy of the movie industry. I also think that most producers and directors would gladly sacrifice your teenagers purity on the alter of profit. I see no reason for any sexually suggestive material to be in this film. It is not just teens who will be going to see this movie. We all know younger children will see it. And what is this talk about D-doff being gay. Why is that even relevant to a movie such as this. This is suppose to be a movie for kids. I have friends with 10 and 9 year olds who wanted to see the movie. After reading and hearing some things about the contents of the movie I will certainly be discouraging them from taking their children to see it. I myself have two teenagers but we will not be spending our money on this film.

Do you realize what kind of message that would send to the target audience. You'd have a bunch of teenage pregnancy. This movie influences much more than you think. If kids see Harry Potter banging Ginny from behind, they're going to get the impression that it's ok for them to bang people from behind. Use your head and think.

I'm telling you: if he didn't wear glasses that make him look 12 years old it wouldn't be an issue.

Just because there are teens in a story does not mean there has to be sex. Like sure, in the life I'm in now, I'm more inclined to think about sexing it up. But think about it: Harry is in a world full of frickin' MAGIC, so I'm thinking that there are other priorities in his life than just sex. Which brings me to the goal of Voldemort. Harry was right to choose killing Voldy over loving Ginny in the 7th book.
