Nice try. My SATURDAY will be like any other Saturday: errands, hanging with friends, not working, considering going to the cottage. And you? How do you plan to celebrate the 4th of July?
What a kind invitation, AA! I’d love to join you at the cottage this weekend! It’s been a while since I’ve been there, though, so I need a little refreshing on the directios. Is your cottage still the one on the lake with the stars and stripes flag?
Now that you mention it, Mark, the lake that I go to does share a border (and water) with our kind friends to the south in Minnesota, and to our other kind friends to the east in Ontario. So, I may yet be Ontario bound this weekend. Of course you are welcome to come — the family would love to meet you!
Minnesota at the south of your lake? Wojo is going to be very suspicious. But actually, this will work out great for him. Here’s the plan: strap on a wet suit that’s several sizes too big, and fill all the extra room with as many subsidized drugs as your “socialized” health care system allows you to buy. Then arrange a rendezvous with him in Northern Minnesota. You swim across the lake and avoid customs. Wojo, you now have all the free drugs you will need until you’re – well, until you’re as old as AA and I!
I’m heading out now, but I just wanted to note that we’ve strayed about as far from Pop Culture discussions as we can get. This is what happens when there isn’t an American around to monitor us (of course, that American was also responsible for discussions about Janice Dickension / Sanjaya threesomes last week, too)!

I adore this film!! It still makes me laugh after all these years and countless viewings…and when the going gets rough, my mantra will always be “it just doesn’t matter!”

I was ten years old when I saw this, and i thought it was brilliant. I’ll rent it for my 9 year old son and see if he and his friends like it. That’s the real test, right?
I think you’ll find the Wes Anderson faze of Murray’s career will not age well ( they suck now ), and Meatballs is a fun, somewhat dopey check your brain summer romp. Why analyze it to death??
