Jamie Foxx does the Moonwalk at the BET Awards: Fitting tribute?

What is it about Jamie Foxx’s Moonwalk-y homage to Michael Jackson at last night’s BET Awards that’s not sitting 100 percent right with me? Maybe Read the full post.

I usually don’t watch award shows, but happened to catch the moonwalk sequence and for some reason it also offended me. Maybe if it hadn’t been sooooooooo badly danced it wouldn’t have stuck in my craw.
    Definitely thumbs down.

I am so sick of hearing about Michael Jackson..what about Farrah Fawcett? There has been no big hype about her! She has been brushed under the carpet.

Jamie Fox is full of himself. Doing the moonwalk was a tacky move. He looked like a goof.

The show was embarrasing! Fox is a fool. It was not a tribute in any way.

As I watched the early part of the BET awards, I was quite disgusted. I I look at that “talent”, and think that there is no comparison to Michael Jackson. I cringe when I think about the future of Black entertainment. I am African American and very proud of it and proud of my people. However, what I witnessed at the beginning of the program was not fitting, not appropriate, and not classy at all. I feel that the night should have been more subdued and reflective of Michael’s life out of respect for him and his family. However, the show was redeemed when sister Janet came on stage to thank everyone for their support and Jamie Foxx and Ne-yo sang the tribute “I’ll Be There”. Other than that, I can’t say that I really enjoyed the show. Maybe the Grammy’s or the American Music Awards will do a better job. At least they’ll have more time to put a tribute together than BET did.

I’ll have to agree that Jamie Foxx was too busy promoting the fact he was going to be in Vegas On July 3rd and 4th.. I mean really..

“Maybe there’s a little too much ‘Look how awesome I am!’”
Ding, ding, ding. I think we have a winner. I’ll be the first to acknowledge that Foxx is ridiculously talented, but I believe the fact that he always seems to make EVERYthing(witness his repeated plugs of his upcoming tour on top of the instances laura brought up) that rubs people the wrong way.

Stop being so critical! Leave it to the professionals, why? Try this for size – “can you do the moon walk?” Hmm… Thought so….

How is Jamie’s dancing tributes any different then thousands of people around the world meeting in town squares and street corners. Dancing to the Jackson’s music and then posting it to YouTube? No disrespect…

The whole Award Show was a disgraceful tribute to Michael. I felt bad for Janet and the family that this was considered a tribute to him. BET should have just done a video montage and planned a proper tribute show when they could take the time.

Jamie Foxx should be ashamed of his performance. His little speech about Michael was a slap in the face to Michael’s memory. He has no clue as to what Michael really stood for. Michael was and is all about music, all about all races, all about all nations. I guess Jamie Fox besides poor singing imitation abilities, has nothing in between his ears because he must have never really “listened” to any of Michael’s lyrics. Categorize yourself Mr Foxx, and praise people who are better than you will ever be.

MJ dies and BET commits suicide…
Viacom should be closed down by an executive order for producing that technical nightmare of a crappy show.
