It's actually a sci-fi thriller starring Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. (Remember him from New Amsterdam? Oh. Well, that's okay. He's hot and can stare right through your skull.) But you'd never know it based on this preview clip alone. Even the bumpin' beat is total speed-freak home makeover music. Dalton Ross just walked by and begged me to turn it off. I turned it up.
Virtuality airs tonight from 8-10 ET on Fox — an on-air promo just reminded me, so I thought I'd remind you. Clark Collis thinks the stand-alone special "screams 'failed pilot' loudenough to be heard in space," but Battlestar Galactica fans will probably want to record this anyway because executive producer Ron Moore is behind it. Good enough for me. For you, too?

I’m looking forward to this! And yes I remember Nikolaj Coster-Waldau from New Amsterdam … another reason to hate FOX (for canceling it without a chance – the other being the equally poor treatment of Virtuality). I’m hoping they’ll at least put it up on Hulu so more people will have a chance to see it.
I really enjoyed New Amsterdam, will give this one a watch. Nikolaj is sexy.
Good for me! I’m checking it out tonight. Michael Taylor wrote one of my favorite BSG episodes.
Maybe if the ratings are high enough, it will get picked up…?
RDM’s involvement is a reason not to watch this. He was a good a few years ago but after the epic fail that was the last 10 episodes of Battlestar Galactica I’m only going to watch something he’s done after it’s off the air and with a sterling rec from a personal friend.
What, a failed pilot? What a crying shame. The pilot had all the makings of an incredible series. A fantastic setting, great cast, excellent ‘known’ bad guy, intrigue, and so much more. It could even be highlighted by sub plot or story line about what is happening on a dying earth during the voyage.
This was the best pilot I’ve ever seen for a television series. Excellently plotted, acted, and written, there were a ton of questions and ideas opened up that would really work well in a television series. I’ll be praying that FOX picks this up or that SyFy picks this up.
I mean, seriously, FOX renewed Dollhouse, and Virtuality is miles ahead of Dollhouse.
“Dalton Ross just walked by and begged me to turn it off. I turned it up.” ANNIE BARRETT, THAT WAS SUCH A DEAN WINCHESTER (‘SUPERNATURAL’) THING TO DO!
I loved this. So many intriguing story possibilities, so many layers to explore – come on FOX or SciFi, make this into a series! Trust the audience. Look at Dollhouse – when it got more complex was when it got good. Give Virtuality a chance. The ratings weren’t great (for broadcast) but come on, Friday, summer, little promotion … what do you expect? Thanks for putting it up on-demand at FOX.com; now keep it visible, and add it to Hulu!
You were right Annie, both were delicious. It is a shame that fox gave up on it before it even aired.
Awesome show. I didn’t catch it on Fox–no promo whatsovever–I caught it on Hulu. Hope it makes it. Its got a 2001 feel. Which means it is something that could actually happen, right down to the interstellar drive–small scale nuke explosions pushing the ship to max sublight speed.
I thought it was really interesting, at least until the end where it just kind of stopped with too many plot lines up in the air. I hope that it is a pilot and that they add some more episodes –or at least another 2-hour movie (like a miniseries). It was worth doing, and I want to know what happens to the characters!
