Bruno on Conan, literally: More crotch-to-face acrobatics

Last night, Sacha Baron Cohen paid an in-character visit to Conan, who made sure to call him "Bruno" about 8,000 times. Would he dance? Of course he would. How about a crotch to the face, in multiple positions? Would Conan like that? Well, he certainly…tolerated it. Wow. (Lap dance is at the end of the video, below.)

What do you think — was last night's crotch-to-face acrobatics routine worse than the one Brüno performed atop Eminem at the MTV Movie Awards? And do his latest stunts — and the iPod-for-baby swap scene previewed above — make you want to see Brüno more or less? For me it's just a bit more, but mostly because I love watching Conan at his peak discomfort levels. I mean, he had NO CLUE what to do.

That movie looks awful. I really don’t find SBC funny at all, he is totally overated. Hope this movie tanks, he seems to have a big ego.

ditto sorella, and this appearance on the Tonight Show was an abject failure, starting off with a completely clumsy knee injury on Conan’s desk. Took him right out of character, and I don’t think he ever really got it back. Looked like bad acting. I was embarrassed for Conan having to put up with this nob.

In my opinion, It was VERY DISREPECTFUL to Conan, but thumbs-up to Conan for being a great sport!!

  • Too Funny!!!

SBC is hilarious! The movie Bruno looks awesome and is going to do fantastic business at the box office! Maybe after the success of Bruno, SBC will be given the amount of respect he deserves. He’s clearly a comic genius.

Hilarious. So much is so wrong, really, but yet so hilarious. I can’t believe I am laughing but I am. I will probably wait for the video though.

I enjoyed SBC as Ali G and in “Talledaga Nights”, in small doses of Borat, and loved his work as King Julian in “Madagascar”. But I watched the Hulu clip with Conan and I just didn’t find him funny at all as he strained to be outrageous and grasped for attention. The Borat character could be just as trashy, but in a naively ignorant way with the slightest hint of sweetness. I am the least PC type you will find, but even I cringe as Bruno plays to all the worst of gay stereotypes without any of the charm. Poor Conan was obviously uncomfortable at times, but geez, who wouldn’t be with Bruno’s crotch stuffed in your face for cheap laughs?

Imagine he pulled that with Jay Leno?

My favorite SBC moment was when his neck got sliced in Sweeney Todd

  • MK

@Joe – LOL!!! Actually that’s the only film in which I’ve enjoyed SBC. I am a woman who can enjoy the Three Stooges (so I’m not stuffy about comedy) but I simply do not and cannot figure out why anyone finds this grossly offensive “comic” in the least bit funny.

Stupid and lame. This guy reminds me of Tom Green.

You really have to respect how deep into character SBC goes. He doesn’t falter for a second – one sign of a comedic genius. I loved the awfully offensive Borat and Ali G just as I am sure to love Bruno.
Don’t be too serious about it; the greater purpose of his comedy is to make the people reflect on their own thoughts, opinions, and faults.

Overrated?! Big ego? Its called acting sweety, and its people like you that dont “get it”, that will work at McDonalds all your life and he will go home to his beautiful wife kid and millions of dollars and respect. But hey i guess you know better, right? He doesnt just do some half ass acting, he does on the spot improv, all his acts are original and bold, if you dont think its funny then there isnt something wrong with him, theres something wrong with you.

  • MrNiceGuy

I fail to find the humor in any of his work. Pushing the gay character button was a smart move, however. Anybody that doesn’t like it will be branded homophobic. Win/win situation for him. Blah.

For all those who don’t like Borat and Bruno and can’t laugh to it, what do you like? What is it that makes you laugh? Or maybe you don’t know how to laugh …
