'American Idol' contestants team up for 'Don't Stop Believing'

The American Idol kids are getting ready for their tour, so they're rehearsing their big finale number: "Don't Stop Believing."

I know not everyone loves this ditty, but this video pretty much turned my day around. Thanks, Idols!

Are you a small town boy, PopWatchers, or have you stopped believin'?

Is it just me or does Anoop and Megan Joyless laugh at Adam near the end?
    Sad people.

  • Kim

Aww, this makes me happy! Reminds me why I enjoyed this season so much — they all seemed to be loving each other.

  • To Thaxton

I wouldn’t read anything into that – they were just having fun. Adam has said he is friends with Anoop and in the AccessHollywood video that follow this performance, Megan and Adam are interviewed and they seem very friendly. Adam compliments Megan’s song choice for the tour and Megan says how beautiful Adam is. It’s all good.

  • Tracey

The Glee kids do it better.

Oh My Goshhhhh . Adam looks soooo hot. I was getting hot under the collar because he didn’t get a solo…until the end . Oh ya …save the best for last. He sounded fantastic. Oh yes. What a prize.

  • Allie

Needs waaay more Kris and less Sarver/Megan/Scott/Gokey. Matt sounds damn good on that piano, though!

  • 12krissy10

I know..but I can write what I want. If you like somebody there, do the same.

  • Adam

Scott and Danny both sounded bad. Must of been the quality of the mics…. (giving them the benifit of the doubt here).
What’s up with Anoop cracking up when Adam and Kris were singing?

    Yep, Glee did it better.

  • The Dude

@Thaxton: I don’t think they were laughing at Adam. Actually, Anoop was laughing through most of it because he messed up a few times (ex: he was late when him and Allison shared a phrase…Allison had to move next to him for him to realize!).
I thought the lot of them sounded pretty good. Scott seemed to struggle but this song is in too high of a key for him…Matt tore it up on piano! I agree with Allie in that Kris didn’t get enough of the song. And Gokey seemed out of key or something during the harmonies with Allison. Overall, though, pretty good. But yeah, the GLEE version is much, much better.

Look, I’m as huge an Idol fan as they come, but this was kind of silly. The song itself is OK, but why oh why do the Idols have to do it? It wasn’t enough on Glee?
And didn’t Adam prove why he was the standout of the season? Is there a note the man can’t nail?

  • Lauren

Like others said…Glee rocked it. So much more.

  • Will

Journey must be making SOOOOOO much money recently.

  • Kim

you have to love “don’t stop believing” when you are from MI. everyone screams at the tops of their lungs during “born and raised in south detroit”

  • Amanda

Definitely not enough Adam. In fact, everyone BUT Adam sounds kind of awful.

  • Kaiulani

I agree that Glee does it better. Funny how Danny still hasn’t learned how to sing with others. It barely interacts with anyone, while Allison was trying to engage everyone. Needs more Adam and Kris.

  • wg

I love those crazy kids. :D But LOL that only Adam can hit the high notes – that’s my boy! :D

  • Ann

Don’t know why the have to change it, I like it better when Kris and Allison are the ones singing the first verse, like they did on the show. More Kris and Adam! And the Glee version is awesome!

  • Eileen

Adam is the only one remotely qualified to sing that song. I agree with others’ posts: they did it better on Glee; Danny and Scott sounded awful; Matt was awesome on the piano. And it’s true that Gokey doesn’t know how to sing with others. Could he possible irk me any more than he already does? I just wish he would go away.

  • Jessica S.

Sweet baby Jesus, this makes me miss high school chorus rehearsals… Anyone wanna harmonize with me?

  • Winks

    Wow!
Adam – Great. Hits the high notes and he can sang!!!
Allison – Couldn’t really hear her.
Gokey – I predict the man will be sitting out some of his numbers and maybe even whole concert dates. That rasp just doesn’t sustain.
Matt – Good thing he can play the piano.
Scott – More proof that he never belonged anywhere near the top 13, or top 100, and so on and so on.
Megan – Her little part wasn’t bad actually.
Anoop – Looked like a high school kid embarrased to be singing. Vocal has potential… but he needs some swagger.
Sarver – I don’t know what to say.
    Lil – Not terrible
Kris – I believe there is a decent voice in there… but this reminds me of how “weak” his vocals are.

  • Danielle

I agree with Will: Journey must be raking in the big bucks. Everywhere you turn, this song is playing. I blame Petra Haden & The Sopranos. Oh, and the Glee version is better.

  • bridgette

This is a good song, if you got someone singing it that know how to sing. You don’t need this song chopped up into 10 peices just because they want a group number. American Idol has to know from the criticism they got during the season, that those group numbers sucked. They have such a variety of different types of singers and voices, that they never blended well on a group song. I know it would be cute to put all of the idols in the same outfit and put them on stage for a group song. It looks cute, but it don’t sound good. The American Idols need to stick to duet and trios, leave the group songs to be the professionals.
P.S. American Idol the less we hear from Scott, Sarver, Megan and Gokey, the better the show will go.

  • DRS

I would rather see these behind the scenes clips where than the big show where everyone is sort of putting on a personality. at least here we get a glimpse at people’s real personalities. loved it!

  • Mel

Heinous. I’ve already forgotten who most of these people are, but I sincerely hope that this was their first run-through of the song. Frankly, all I can hear is the “Glee” cast, and they just blow the AI crew out of the water.

  • jay

awww… I agree with the posters… only Adam’s voice is decent… Anoop looks annoying in that clip… and Scott is just shouting…

  • geena

Y’know, I was on the Journey train after the finale of Glee, but it’s been stuck in my head ever since, and I’m a little over it. Can’t they find a new fabulously cheesy song to sing??

  • shay

best vocals is Adam for sure.. Kris seems to struggle as always… Danny and Anoop, better stay as back up singers – you messed up… Scott, too much shouting, Matt just concentrate to your piano playing its safer that way.. Megan, Lil and Allison – passable, not your genre i suppose… and who’s this fat guy??? better take him out of the tour – he looks and sounds very ordinary that anybody would even bother to see him

  • Adam

Glad I’m not the only one who thought Scott was awful.
    And yes Anoop looked annoying.

Effing horrible… on so many levels. It’s like a bunch of choir kids are goofing around on the weekend while the popular kids party somewhere else. Besides Journey, GLEE had the definitive version of this song.
