'The Bachelorette' episode 6: Wes is a narcissistic fame whore

But you knew that already, didn't you Bachelorette fans? This week's episode, however, really drove the point home — what with all of Wes' talk about wanting to "eat" fame, or whatever. I won't give any spoilers here, but I do think Jillian is finally, finally starting to separate the men from the boys. (Or perhaps I should say the "idiots" from the "tolerably dimwitted.") Get all the details in my full Bachelorette TV Watch recap and don't miss Chris Harrison's exclusive behind-the-scenes blog. But before that, let me know what you thought about tonight's episode in the comments section below. Were you shocked by who got eliminated? Have you ever had a date on a train? Can you believe the insanity that's coming during the final five episodes? Finally, check out the latest (and I think it's safe to say, greatest) installment of EW.com's original series The Doll Bachelorette. Tonight, the bachelors work the runway in a gratuitous swimsuit competition — and it is all kinds of wrong.

I can’t believe she sent Jake home. Thank god he’s coming back to knock some sense back into her.

I can’t believe she sent Jake home. Thank god he’s returning to knock some sense into her.

  • Laura

I think she would have been bored by Jake after a while. Nice guy…maybe too nice

  • Eileen in IL

Oh, Jillian! JAKE was/is the perfect man for you! I just cannot believe you sent him home!

  • Liz

Jillian’s a moron – “Jake’s too perfect”? Seriously? And Robby’s too immature, but Michael, who jumps around like a 14-year old girl who’s just seen the Jonas Brothers, is ready to have kids in the next couple of years? He IS a kid – and a breakdancer! Yeah – that’s a stable career. But worst of all – WES! Jillian is proving the stereotype that the nice guys lose out because deep down girls just want a bad boy…

  • Ashley

At this moment, I am ashamed to share a hometown with Wes. My whole family was screaming at him through the TV. We can’t stand that guy!!

  • CL

Yeah,. I was a little surprised she sent Nice Guy Jake packing. I would kept him. I am however, glad she got rid of Tanner P(ervert)! Maybe he could exploit his 15 minutes to endorse nail polish?

Why can’t the show tell her what a rat Wes is…they have in on tape. They are playing with her emotions. I hope Wes falls on his musicial face.
Jake was a good guy. I wish him the best.

  • CL

Maybe Jake could be the next Bachelor?

  • Kimmer

Jake is a great catch for her…what does she see in Wes? Do they do this just for the drama to keep us watching?
Why can’t the show tell her…don’t they care about her feelings or emotions? I think they should screen applicants a little bit better.

  • Peggy Sue

I was glad to see Tanner packing. He said he “did everything” to tell Jillian what was going on – but he really didn’t – he stopped short at giving her names and facts which he should have done. I think it’s good Jillian let Jake go – he was trying so hard and it just wasn’t working for her; it would have been crushing for her to meet his family and then turn him away. Jesse and Kyptin seem to be the best guys left. If Ed tries to come back it doesn’t seem fair. it looks like Jake is going to “tell” on Wes but Wes is in the next Rose ceremony so who knows.

  • KV

I am so annoyed with Jillian for sending Jake home! He needed more of a chance from her. I think Michael is going to be my new favorite.

  • Kayce

    She. dropped. Jake.
    AHHHH.
    He was perfeeect?!
WHY FIX WHAT ISN’T BROKEN GIRLIE.

  • Kelsey

While I think that Jake is a really nice guy, I honestly don’t think they are right for each other. The chemistry wasn’t exactly there. Sure, he’s better than some of the guys she has now (aka Wes and Michael), but I’m sure Jake would have left sooner or later.
Robby was too immature for Jillian, and Tanner was just weird.
Out of the guys she has left, I like Reid, however, I don’t think he’s right for her either. I really think she’d do well with Jesse, but I’m on Team Kiptyn. I think he has just the right balance of a being a good guy and being adventurous.

  • Sabrina

where can I watch tonight’s episode of the bachelorette online?

  • Melanie

I liked Reid from Day 1 and now have a full-on Reid crush……but seriously, how can the producers not give the girl a heads-up on Wes?

  • CW

Wishing J would have given Jake a hometown date/another chance. Gr8 guy, but she us so hung up on he is “too perfect” that he might nit be right 4 her. He would be the type to love her 4-ever
Wes is a total loser and not very smart. Even if I liked his music I would NEVER buy his CD. Although hevis getting “publicity”, it is negative. I would bet many can’t stand him & will not buy his CD just b/c of his actions/responses.

  • tisha

I don’t think she really likes any of them. I think she has Ed on her mind and that is where her heart is.

  • wakeforce

Jake is the new Bachelor. Yeah, I could see that. I hope no one buys Wes’ new cd and it goes tin! What does she see in him?

  • Nery Rodriguez

okay, I cannot stand Wes!!! He is so freaking ugly and so yuck! It must be for the ratings, I mean to send Jake home and leave Wes, Jillian is on CRACK!!! Jake is Perfect, hopefully he will be the next bachelor, because he is the cutest and the most decent. Jillian is Crazy and then she left Michael, that poor guy he still needs to grow up!!! I think Jesse will win, or Kyptin, she loves making out with Kyptin. The only thing that keeps me going is the thought of Jake as the next bachelor, he is for sure some eye candy that I will not get tired of seeing!!!

  • Brittany

How does Wes think being on “The Bachelorette” is going to bring him fame and fortune when most of the women watching the show hate his guts? I just don’t see the logic, probably because there is none behind this little scheme of his. And if Jillian doesn’t want Jake, I’ll gladly take “too perfect” over “too immature” or “too self-centered” anyday. Geesh.

  • LS

Can’t believe that Jillian got rid of Jake. What was she thinking? He was my pick to win the whole thing. Oh, well. My second choice is still around. Go Team Kyptin!!!

  • msw

I agree with Kelsey’s comments regarding Jake. Very sweet, cute guy (I LOVE the idea of him being next Bachelor) but there wasn’t enough chemistry between him and Jillian.
(He nees someone who appreciates having an adorable NICE guy…nothing wrong with that)
And Wes? Geez, he doesn’t even seem real. Is anyone that selfish?
Good TV though. Enjoying the season. But hope something comes out of it….the previews make it look like everything falls apart, with chaos ensuing. (Jillian tearful, confused??) Hope she finds happiness with somebody.
I am rooting for Kiptyn now, they seem to have really good natural chemistry. Hope there is depth there and that he is sincere.

  • Dawn

Alright, I like Jake as much as the next girl, and have from the start. But he’s too good for the Bachelor franchise. How has this man not been snatched up already??
That said, he can come across a little “goody goody”. (That works for me, don’t get me wrong!) But he wasn’t right for Jillian “Bad-Boy Magnet” Harris. Plus, remember that old Jim Carrey movie Liar Liar? Remember who Maura Tierney almost married? “The Claw is gonna getcha! Watch out for that claw now!” (Cary Elwes). Yeah. That’s our Jake. Golly.

  • valerie

OMG I CANT BELIEVE SHE DIDN’T PICK JAKE! IS SHE TO BLIND TO SEE WES JUST WANTS TO GET FAMOUS!!!!!! JILLIAN U R DUMB!

  • msjacqo

I do not understand how Jillian can send Jake home, he is the sweetest man and the most mature out of all of them, has a great job and seems to be a very stable person who would love her completely. Second, how could the show film what Wes says about his chance at publicity and that he does indeed have aleterior motives and not share that with Jillian? Whos at fault now? I think the show has a moral obligation to share that information with Jillian if they are filming what Wes has to say. Its not fair, to her or to the men who are actually there wanting a chance with Jill. I am done with this show, if you want to do it right, then do it right and be honest and truthful with everyone on the show. Dont film someone who is flat out lying and not tell the person who is trying to find the love of her/his life. its wrong. I hope Chris can sleep at night knowing that he is withholding information that will destroy a persons life.ohwell, ratings rule not truths.

  • CVisca

There are FIVE episodes left? At first that sounds nuts but now after seeing the ‘coming up’ clips – thank goodness! It was hard to understand it all – do two people come back to talk to Jillian? Is Ed coming back? Will Wes ever dress appropriately for rose ceremonies? And please tell me who out there would actually buy his crap of an album?

  • kkp

TO SABRINA…abc.com will have the whole episode available, but they don’t usually post the latest episode until the day or evening after it first airs.

  • Christine

We’re all rooting for you, Jake!!!

  • Denise

I too am ticked off at the Bachelorette Staff. They KNOW what Wes is doing, they have it on film, but they have not said a word to Jillian & that ticks me off. It’s not much wonder these couples don’t make it on the outside of the TV show … They’re dealing with LIARS.
I Hope Jake is the next Bachelor because he was the most sincere of all of the men. My 2nd pick also is Kiptyn. But I HOPE next week open’s Jillian’s eyes as to the CRAP that is going on behind her back with Wes.
He’s scum & I for certain will NOT be buying his album when it’s released & I hope others DONT buy it either. I hope his platform for publicity BACKFIRES on him.
ABC do the right thing & tell Jillian, & then nominate Jake for the next Bachelor.
