Robert Pattinson fans, please step away from Robert Pattinson!

Robert-pattinson_l Robert Pattinson was grazed by a cab today in New York City, as his bodyguards maneuvered him quickly across a street to avoid a crowd of fans, RadarOnline reports. One of the site’s staffers witnessed the incident, which left Pattinson momentarily stunned but unharmed. One of his security team allegedly yelled “You see what you did, you almost killed him!” to the crowd, but we’ll have to wait until the footage shows up on YouTube to confirm that.

Here’s what I don’t get: Presumably, the fans that feel passionately enough about Pattinson to tail him as he shoots Remember Me in Manhattan, would also have read his GQ cover story, in which he said his first thought when he sees a crowd is someone could very easily stab me. Why would you want to be one of the people who scares him? Or is that just the out-of-touch reasoning of a woman who shadowed her first and last celebrity in 1996? (For the record: I stayed on the opposite sidewalk of Alan Rickman as I followed him to a 7-Eleven in London. I did not go in after him in or wait for him to exit. Me and the detergent I was carrying continued on our way to the laundromat.)

You know I read the interview he did with GQ and thought it was funny and real and it made me officially interested enough in him that in the event I saw him on the street I may try to talk to him I would not want to be part of a crush of people trying to run him into the street though.

Wow, this really has to stop. This is like Beatle/boy band mania all over again! Let the poor man be! If these crazed fans end up hurting him, then he won’t be able to finish the Twilight movies. Maybe they should think about that before they force him into oncoming traffic.

Pattinson is the Beatles for the 21st century. Get that album out Rob. I want to hear it asap.

  • Dawn

Poor guy. Whether or not you like him, you’ve got to feel sorry for him. He doesn’t appear to be seeking this attention and yet he can’t escape it.

Why the hell are these teenage girls allowed to get so close to Rob. I understand that due to his fame and good lucks he is bound to get female attention, but for gods sake, it dosent matter how famous you are, the consequence of that should not be that you are worried for your own safety. You wouldn’t accept that as a ‘normal’ person so why should he be any different and have to be exposed to this daily? I have the same sort of paranoia as Rob (although i havent been mobbed by hundreds of hormone enraged teenage girls) however that feeling of being so exposed isnt nice. So please people for the sake of Rob’s sanity. Admire Him From A Distance. LIKE I DO.

Wow. Whoa. Sound likes he could of easily gotten killed. Perhaps his security team needs to make some very significant changes to protect him when he is out in the streets better, Much better. He is probably freaking out.
I feel for his parents also. They are probably worried what if they lose their son to this craziness.
I think to ask the fans to stop is fruitless. He has portrayed Edward Cullen and for some crazy girls out there to just get even a glimpse of him and pass up that chance is probably just not going to happen, unfortunately.
I so hope he stays safe.
Maybe his security will see how important it is to make sure they have him surrounded completely. He’ll probably have to listen to his security like the president of the United States, actually it seems even worse. It really sounds like some of these fans have a hard time controlling themselves around him. I would hate to be a in relationship with someone with his situation.
    Sounds like he panicked.

I am 31, but when I was younger,I had my share of obsessive crushes, such as New Kids on the Block. I have NEVER understood this mentality. If you are a fan of someone, why would you want to put them in a situation where they could get hurt? This could have been so much worse, he could have been seriously injured or killed!I’m not a fan of Pattinson’s, but it seems to me that putting him in life-threatening situations is a crappy way to tell him how much he means to you!

Poor guy. No one deserves that headache. Frankly I get the impression, from some interviews of his that I’ve read, if he could go back in time, he would’ve ran like hell from Twilight. It’s pretty obvious that he has disdain for the material (I admire him for being honest about it; he could’ve lied and talked about how awesome it was). He could be another up-and-coming actor/musician instead of some idiot teenage girl magnet. Sorry, Rob.

“Pattinson is the Beatles for the 21st century.”
    You should be euthanized.

  • jess

Alley, I just don’t think the fans will change. I think that’s an energy that will continue. It sounds like changes needs to be made within his security team and him.
The fans will go to desperate measures and not change, I think that’s kind of cut and dried.
The energy needs to be spent on his security not on telling the fans what to do. It’s like telling sharks to stop feeding when they are in a frenzy.
You can talk all you want but it’s like talking to a wall.
He probably learned a lot from this incident and hopefully his hip is not too badly bruised if any and no fractured bones. I seems time to revaluate for his security team. To make some changes to protect him better from crazed fans.
Let’s hope they do protect him better in the future. He can’t do it himself and tell the girls to stop or walk fast from them or even run from them. It probably just stirs the frenzy more. That kind of energy is almost impossible to stop.
I’ll send a prayer for him.

Don’t harm Rob, he’s too hot! It’s mob mentality…can get some fairly sane people all wrapped up, esp. teen girls. That said, they def need to take it down a notch. What’s the point of trying to get close to him when you are in a huge crowd of similarly obsessed girls anyway? So you graze his elbow or something equally innane, then what? Chasing him into a busy New York intersection though is no bueno…but this will pass. All the new, hot guys go through this phase with the mobs of teen girls…let’s just not kill him before he can move on.

  • Chloe

    This is crap,
He was not grazed or anything the taxi stopped before being hit,
    But still LEAVE HIM ALONE!
    He is human fgs.
Im sure you would hate people following you around the place.
Laws should totally be enforced for celebrities for privacy and space.
    Pleaseplease leave him alone!
You are not a fan if you stalk him like a bird to a piece of bread.

  • Julia

All these media outlets build up hype around certain actors, and then act outraged when idiot girls believe the hype and start stalking, chasing, accosting and screaming after said actors. Well, duh. In other news, I’m “shocked, shocked to discover gambling going on here!”
Crazy girls are going to chase whoever is the flavor of the week, it’s unavoidable. But they get their cues on who to slobber after from media outlets. If it wasn’t Pattinson, it’d be some other poor dude.

  • Xtina

Mandi, Alan Rickman? Now that’s what I call self control.

  • New Guinea

    Unbelievable.

  • Nerwen Aldarion

Poor Rob, I don’t live anywhere near him but if he ever was nearby I might stop him for an autograph but thankfully I’m not a crazy stalker fan. Some girls really need to get a life, leave the guy alone and just let him go on with his life.

  • Jenn

If these girls don’t get ahold of themselves fast- they are going to drive him straight out of the movie making business. He has stated time and time again that the craziness makes him nervous- why can’t people just admire from afar? He has a lot of potential that doesn’t extend to Edward Cullen. People need to get ahold of themselves.. He doesn’t owe anyone a picture, autograph or neck nibble. What is wrong with people?

  • Nita

Wow! I really feel for the guy. I think all the fan and media craziness has gotten out of hand. They need to leave Rob (and Kristen) alone. He is a person just like the rest of us. If the fans and media push him far enough, he could say “Sorry I’m done”. Which would be a shame since he is very talented. The fans and media need to back off and find some other soul to pester.

  • Natalie

I read that this guy has to pay for his OWN security! Why isn’t the studio picking up the tab on this? The kid is making them MILLIONS!!!! I hope Rob Pattinson asks for a ton more money!!!!!

  • Sissy

That is despicable!! They should get help from the NYPD!! They need to protect him he is a WORLD TREASURE!! HANG ON THERE ROB!!! Most of your fans would respect your personal space. WHAT ON EARTH IS SUMMIT DOING TO KEEP HIM SAFE!!!!

  • Emma

This is ridiculous. He’s going to have a nervous breakdown, he’s going to get hurt or someone else is going to get hurt. They need to up his security and close the set if they haven’t already. And these girls need to chill out and realize how insane they’re acting.
Who wants to bet that if he knew how crazy things would get, he’d never have done Twilight in the first place? Probably the worst film he’ll ever be in, but it’s what everyone will know him for. How ironic.

  • lori

This is out of control. The funny thing is, while many call these crazed fans teenagers, many of them are anything but! Look at these women….some of them, are NOT teenagers. They should be ashamed of themselves. It’s sickening. They are going to end up killing the poor guy! How pathetic!

  • Megan

Crazy. Funny thing to me though, he didn’t get this much hype when he played Cedric Diggory in “Harry Potter”…
However, this is getting ridiculous. Fans need to back off.

  • dee dee

Leave the dude alone already. How sad for him. People need to get a life and leave these people alone. How tragic this would have been if he would’ve gotten seriously hurt or killed.

  • ROCK ON ROB!

He looks so traumatized… hahaha! Poor guy… All these chicken heads need to cool it…. I get people that go see movies cause a guy’s cute and all, but to go out of your way to stalk him… that’s just nuts!

  • Lynn Hodges

Rabid fans are going to get this guy killed. When are they going to get a clue that this is inappropriate behavior? Makes me ashamed to be an American female.

  • Helen

Poor guy – there were some other pics of him after he finished whatever scene he was working on and he looks absolutely miserable. I honestly do not know how these crazy girls live with themselves! They are all pathetic.

  • Soozie

I’ve been saying this for weeks, along with a few others that it was only a matter of time before he got hurt by all of this. I feel for the guy. He just wants to be 23, work and enjoy himself. What the flip is wrong with people who won’t let him do that??
Yes I think he’s adorable though I’m more crazy about Edward than Rob, but good lord to keep mobbing him like that is so…. wait where are these tweens MOM’s at??? why are they running loose in the streets of NYC??
Leave the guy alone, let him make some great movies so we can all continue to enjoy him as he hopefully ages gracefully. But we have to give him the chance to age.
    yah yah I’m done

  • Renee Maler

Okay, so that was the worst “body guarding” I have ever seen. The security team should be fired. How hard can it be to properly shield him from all that – do they not have ways to barricade the block or immediate area!?! And my God – people need to get a grip!!! Leave the man alone, let him do his work, have his life and some shred of privacy. We wonder why young actors go crazy — perfect example of why!!!
