Lauren Conrad says Spencer's sex tape apology was staged... NO!

Thank you, MTV, for shattering my faith in reality (television). While promoting her new book, L.A. Candy, former Hills star Lauren Conrad visited The View – and revealed the truth behind Spencer's on-screen apology for that whole sex-tape-rumor situation. When Elisabeth Hasselback asked the aspiring novelist whether she thought Mr. Pratt's mea culpa was sincere, Conrad responded: "Umm… I mean…" (Spit it out, girl!) "To be perfectly honest, I wasn't on the other line of that call… So no, I didn't get an apology." Lauren went on to explain that she went to the unholy Speidi wedding because "I might some day regret not doing it." I can't tell you how shocked — shocked! — we here at EW are to learn that The Hills might take creative license with… Oh, forget it. I can't even muster up enough energy to finish that sentence.

My feeling she went to wedding because she was forced to by the show. She came out in th press that she wasn’t going; and then she showed up at the wedding. Something tells me the producer’s forced her since she was still tied to the show.
Yeah, it doesn’t shock me that HILLS manufacture everything and probably has everything scripted…
I love Lauren’s little tidbits here and there; exposing the HILLS for what it really was…

ok so i know that most of the stuff on the hills is fake but i was kinda upset to hear that the apology from spencer to lauren never even took place! the whole show seems like a scam now. they definitely need to stop calling it a reality show because it definitely is not!

Joy and Whoopi look thrilled at interviewing her lol

    seriously, julie??? seriously???

Okay that aside, I just watched on YouTube the clip of Lauren on the View, and easily the funniest part was after Elisabeth says “Its 2012″ and Whoopi mouths “zip it” to her. Anyone else notice that?

I just wanna say that The View is the best talk-show on tv right now! To see Elizabeth and Joy Behar fighting every day is priceless.

Whoopi seems to be the only one of those women that gets the simple fact the Lauren knew Spencer was a wasteland before the rest of the world did, that she still hates him, doesn’t want to look at him or even comment on him, over and over again. I know the best gossip comes from trudging the old dead horse out again (and admittedly the bit about the faked apology was a coup), but for pity’s sake, she should start taking charge of these interviews and just saying, “Look, I don’t like Spencer. Just wait until I’m gone and say whatever you like on the subject, but please leave me out of it– that’s drama that MTV couldn’t pay me to continue.”

    I am shocked and apalled.

I agree with everything you said, Gary. I actually find Lauren to be a great role model for young girls as she is mature and does not like to get involved with Speidi’s stupid drama. I think this also shows that while she is a reality television star, she wants to grow from the experience and establish herself as something more – unlike Speidi who use silly antics to gain attention.

So she’s a pretend celebrity on a pretend reality show. Did she pretend to write her book? Was a ghost involved? Writing a complete book is hard. Much harder than ‘designing’ or ‘acting’. You actually have to write down 200-or so pages containing a narrative and compelling characters. Everyone thinks they can do it, until they actually try. I’d bet good money someone ‘helped’ her a lot.

i knew the show had staged scenes but i cant believe mtv really stooped that low to make it look like spencer said sorry.

The thing about Lauren is that she makes horrible tv because she’s SO regular and decent. But, that’s why i liked her. That’s also the only reason I could stomach Laguna Beach, especially during the Kristen years.
Needless to say, I will not be tuning into the Hills. haven’t in quite some time, it really became less about Lauren & more about speidi, Brody and their offshoot.s
