Do you wanna get Frosty with a Wendy's 'music video'?

I used to casually look away when it came on, but to no avail: The Wendy's commercial about the "Frosty Posse" has taken over the already-tiny "useful" section of my brain. By knowing it so well, I've elevated myself to "fairly in the know" status re: Top 40 music. This couldn't be lamer. But it's not entirely my fault. The song — which may have inspired Jay-Z's "D.O.A. (Death of Auto-Tune)" — is an entire minute long!

A friend of mine used to joke that I have at least a 10 percent chance of dying (happily) with my lips firmly suctioned to the spout of a Frosty machine. Seriously, what a way to go.

Should fast food ads quit trying to be music videos? I say no. But if you happen to be sitting across the subway car from me as I accidentally implement eye contact while mouthing the salacious line "Ooh, baby. Do you wanna get Frosty with me?" I could see how you, baby, might answer otherwise.

I think the commercial is hillarious, and they’re should be more videos spoofing boybands.

Wait, I thought it was 2009 and not 1999. This commercial has all the timely, biting pop culture satire of a Shrek movie.

  • Marnie

Glad im not the only one who cant get this song out of their head.

I maintain that the commercial is as awesome as it is stupid. Which, historically, is true for all of the best commercials.

I actually woke up in the middle of the night last night hearing this song in my head.

this commercial is pure awesomeness. esp since nsync, backstreet, otown and 98 degrees all have videos with ALLLL of these cliches (white suits, white boys, crappy dancing, unattractive guys that they dress up to force us to think are attractive – and yes, i am a boy band lover!) IT’S PERFECTION.

I tried the “twisted frosty,” and the commercial’s better than the product. But isn’t everything? I love the random pairing of the oddly-shaped head guy with the guy that looks like someone’s sleazy 70’s uncle.

the tall skinny guy frightens and confuses me. apologies to the actor, but he looks like Beaker.

I personally think it’s funny. the commercial remeids me of the Backstreet Boys’ “I Want It That Way” video (they are all dressed in white, just like the video).

total earworm. I just ran in for a caesar side and happened to read an advertisement, ..coffee toffee, twisted frosty… it is like lyrics on the wall. How can anyone not sing along?

I’m glad I’m not the only one who loves this commercial. And the coffee-toffee-twisted-frosty is pretty awesome, too!

My kids loooovvvveee this commercial. I, on the other hand, think its weird and creepy..but it is pretty funny too..such a strange combination!

I love this commercial on so many levels that I cannot even count them.

  • tania

No, no, no! These guys are a ripoff of the much better Meaty Cheesy Boys that Jack in the Box came out with during the boy band craze. Sadly, I think I liked them more than the actual boy bands in those days

  • Maggs

Thank you tania, I thought I was the only one who remembered them. The Frosty Posse doesn’t even compare to the awesomeness of The Meaty Cheesy Boys. How do you beat these lines…”Cheese, meat, cheese, cheese, meat and thats it!” and “When I say meat you say cheese”

Oh, this is so funny. I’ve had that song stuck in my head all day. Its nice to see others love it too. :)

the only thing that would make this hilarious commercial better would be to have Justin Timberlake handing out the frosty at the drive thru window. Now THAT would be AWESOMEly funny. I ADORE this commercial because it’s so purposely cheesy. The fake break dancing. The floating breakdance twirls. The robot. The “fierce” licking of the spoon. LOVE IT.

Random question… is that dark hair guy in this commercial the guy from the band 3OH!3????!?!?!?
