I think ANYone who thinks Indy could be played by someone else really hasn’t got a clue about what made the franchise so populat in the first place. Ford is Indy – period! It wasn’t just a character on paper, Ford molded it to fit his personality traits. The original Indy character (before Ford came onboard) was much harder and tougher, and less likeable. The Yound Indiana Jones Chronicles was useful for teaching history for kids, but not ONE of the actors had ANY similarity to Ford’s portrayal of the character AT ALL. Ford should be the first and LAST person to ever portray this character. Anything else call it something different.
I think Ford still deserves one final AMAZING outing as Indy – Spielberg and Lucas owe him a fantastic story to say thank you for creating such an iconic screen icon.
Lets have something HUGE like Atlantis or something with loads of volcanoes and mysterious ghostly jungles and EXPLORING again.
The Indy films have become parodies of themselves, they need to go back and create a great story and forget about all the winks at the past films and all that.
Fingers crossed for Indy 5!!!
I agree with lots of the posts here and also disagree with some as well.
The best two Star Wars films were the ones that George Lucas did not direct or write he only came up with the story and produced.
Look what he did when he took the franchise back!
The dialog in the new trilogy was absolute shite and the stories and everything about them was terrible.
George Lucas should stay away from film and his back catalogue.
He came up with the idea to put aliens in the new Indiana Jones movie and Steven Spielberg said ‘no way!’ coz he had done enough movies with aliens in them and he said he had finished the franchise with The Last Crusade.
I do not know why he changed his mind in the end but I wish they never made ‘The Crystal Skull’.
The script was terrible even from the very start when the gopher or mole or whatever it was, crawled out of that dirt mound.
At that point I thought to myself ‘what?’
Flying fridges anybody????
Aliens and Indiana Jones in the same movie WTF!
Shia swinging through the jungle with monkeys WTF!
If they do make a fifth movie and I am sure they will, there are a few things they need to do.
1-No script written by David Koepp or George Lucas
2-Have the script tweaked by smart script writers. That’s what Pixar do to make the dialogue continue to feel fresh and solid.
3-Sorry but no Marion. She has lost the edge she once had and is to smiley.
4-Lay off the special effects!
5-No more flying fridges and monkeys, keep the gags simple.
6-No more Soviets!
7-Make Indy the number one character. If you watch the 4th film you will notice that Indy is basically a side character. There was to much focus on Mutt.
8-In the script refer to Indiana as Indiana more often! Having him being called “Henry” all the time takes away a bit of the character’s edge. It was a good gag in the 3rd movie but it should be put to rest.
I think they should make an Indy tv show with either Noah Wyle or Michael Shanks as indy
