Right now, I think the rise of BR is just another cynical ploy to keep people shopping ’til they drop to replace whole collections. Also, you could download this show from a torrent, which is hurting the economy too. How does that create jobs? It does not because guess what, people are not buying anything. Money needs to change hands.

Stop blaming the economy for the way things are. If you are hurting, make changes in your life to improve your income. The blame should go to one place, to you. Money could go to another place? Spending pushes up demand, demand will then increase the need for more workers, and this in turn creates jobs. If people are not spending money, there is no demand, no need for workers, and layoffs occur, Econ 101.
These Blu Rays look very good, and worth the price. Lost is a fantastic show, and has never looked better.

I can’t believe there is even a debate given the current economy. Must be nice to have such dilemmas! Here’s my advice: Hold off on buying the Blu-Rays until they come down in price in a year or two since you really don’t need it right now. For the future, don’t buy the DVDs of something you know is going to be released on Blu-Ray eventually.

What are you going to do when the next upgrade in technology comes along…and the next, and the next? I’ve bought Star Wars Episodes IV, V, & VI three separate times. Then I realized enough’s enough, this isn’t making my life any better because I can see bolts on Han Solo’s blaster more clearly. No amount of technology is going to erase that 1977 hairstyle! But I digress…don’t waste your money on rebuying.

I brought mines off of amazon used for $30 each so it was a win and you should trade in the old ones or give it to someone who would enjoy them.

You need to do what I do: avoid Blu-Rays and Blu-Ray players altogether. DVDs have never been cheaper, I don’t have a big enough TV to be able to tell the difference, and eventually Blu-Ray will bow to internet downloads anyway. Easy.
