Artie Lange takes over 'Joe Buck Live' -- do you want to see him on 'Conan'?

On last night's series premiere of HBO's Joe Buck Live, the "comedy roundtable" portion of the show ended up completely dominated by The Howard Stern Show's Artie Lange, who ran his mouth in typical Artie Lange fashion until Buck became visibly uncomfortable and defensive in his own odd, mild-mannered way. "I'm sorry to ruin your f—ing great show," said Lange, to which Buck (whose tweets have more pizazz than his speech would suggest) calmly replied, "I appreciate the apology, because you have." The most bizarre part of the whole scene is that upon close inspection, it turns out popular actors Paul Rudd and Jason Sudekis were sitting there, too. The whole f—ing time! Check out the NSFW (duh) clip:

Without Lange's antics, I'm pretty sure most people would never have realized that an HBO series called Joe Buck Live premiered last night. Well played, producers.

Meanwhile, the foul-mouthed, outrageous-by-design Lange complained to the Daily News that although he guested on Late Night over a dozen times, Conan O'Brien's Tonight Show producers won't have him on the show in the earlier time slot. (The Tonight Show had no comment.) Do you think Artie Lange has a place in the 11:30 hour with his old buddy Conan, or is he too much for network TV that airs when humans are still awake?

They had Gaffigan and Norm MacDonald on last week. Keep this running theme going with Artie.
Plus, is it me or has Conan’s comedic material lost its ballsiness ever since the move? I swear, freakin’ adult demographic is killing Conan’s Tonight Show.

Letterman has Artie on, so I don’t see why the Conan producers would have a problem with him. He knows how to behave on network tv.

That gay joke was bad, and the guests looked really uncomfortable. But the producers plan worked – everybody is talking about the show.

Artie is an out of control freak. He’s fat, thinks he is way funnier than he is, is a non-stop liar and is an admitted druggie. He once threw a water bottle at my head. I wish he would go away.

Artie Lange is an attention getting fattie mc fatterson, however, Buck and Crew knew what they were getting into when they casted his no talent azz

Joe Buck is a complete and utter tool so anything that may upset him or make him feel comfortable is ok in my book. Who’s the moron from HBO that thought it was a good idea to give this guy his own show? It’s toture enough having to watch him cover baseball on fox.

Has the person who wrote this article ever heard of Brett Favre?

Even the most hard core Artie fans think he talks way too much on The Howard Stern Show and feel Artie has now ruined Stern’s show. Just go look at all the hatred for the once loved Artie on http://www.sternfannetwork.com Howard Stern message boards.

Artie Lange is following the same format that Howard Stern did with his early appearances on David Letterman. They may have been antagonistic to start with, but both men realized they were good for one another and it turned it to a ratings boone for both men. Artie is working the same deal with Buck… Buck acts upset but Lange will be on that show again to drum up ratings. Lange has done plenty of “clean” appearances on other shows and nows how to be a “prime time” guest, so that act last night was purely for ratings.

What does being fat have to do with any of it? I don’t like Artie because he’s not funny, he’s rude and not talented. For you to insinuate his weight has anything to do with those things makes you as despicable as the man himself.

Artie seems to have really taken a turn for the worse even a lot of us who love him and his comedy think he is not funny anymore, I think he cleaned up and lost his humanity..he’s just not very funny anymore. He has become quite a bully. Any I agree he has taken over the Sirius show

Artie + Arod = Joe Buck Live Emmy Award

Only fat people would respond how you did. I’m sorry that you are fat, but I don’t dislike you because of that. Perhaps you should stop sitting around eating snacks and playing on the internet and instead go outside and take a walk.

The Tonight show on NBC is a totally different situation than a talk show on HBO and the internet. Artie has been on Letterman, Conan and Jimmy Kimmel and his material has been appropriate for those situations. According to Artie, the producer of the Joe Buck Live show ASKED him to be outrageous especially if the other guests were bland. I watched it, and although Paul Rudd & Jason Sudekis are funny when given lines to read, they’re NOT comics. Artie perhaps took it a little too far, and came across as mean spirited, but after the show Joe told him he was great and he got nothing but applause and handshakes. Buck will probably be on the Stern Show soon to tell what he really thought, but they told Artie to be outrageous, and he was. Also, nobody seems to mention how Artie gave a loving tribute to Joe’s dad who also had been a sports announcer. At least it’s getting people to talk about the show, whereas with Favre they’re only talking about Favre, not Joe’s show.

I am a HUGE supporter of Lange and the Stern show, but Artie’s appearance on the Joe Buck show was an unmitigated disaster. Artie’s tired homophobic rants have simply become old and contrived. He hasn’t added any newer material in the past 5 years, and most Stern fans are growing fatigued by the day. How many times is he going to tell the Romo/homo joke?
Artie should do the show a favor and resign. The show has been great lately, but it would be even better without the incessant interruptions of a clearly needy Lange. As Howard would have once said, Artie suffers from “love me daddy” syndrome.
