"Oh I'm the arbiter, I know the score! / From square one he'll be watching all 64!" That's my favorite line from Chess, which should Read the full post.

One Night in Bangkok is the only song that I know from the show. Darn Murray Head. lol.

I have been looking for the 2003 Actors Fund of America Concert. Does anyone know where I can watch it online?

WOW. This is weird. I have seen this show several times, and spent a lot of time in high school memorizing the score. Didn’t think anyone else had even heard of it! Hellooooo, Chess fans!

Okay, I just watched the clip. Has Josh Grobin always had pitch problems, or is he under the weather during this performance? Perhaps his giant vibrato pushes some notes out of tune?

I just finished watching this. Other than the fact that the guys from ABBA did the music, and that “One Night In Bangkok” came from this show, I knew almost nothing about it. Terrific tunes, quite an involving story, and I thought the cast and musicians were all excellent! :)

I tried to watch it on PBS last night, but the sound was horrible. I had my t.v. up to the highest volume and could still hardly hear it. Did anyone else have that problem? And for anyone with the DVD – is the sound okay on that? I don’t want to waste my money if I’m not going to be able to hear it . . . .

My favorite line: “In fiiiiiiiive languages.”
I wish Idina Menzel and Josh Groban would do other things together. Their duet of Awake on her Soundstage concert was fantastic.

After I got over the shock of hearing different people singing the songs I know and love from the concept album, I very, very much enjoyed the performance.
Groban will get all the kudos, but Idina Menzel did an absolutely incredible job as Florence, and Adam Pascal had the same kind of rasp in his voice as Murray Head on the album.
All in all, I’ve since picked up the DVD and two CD set, but am disappointed after seeing the wonderful HD production on PBS that WB/Reprise didn’t bother to release it on Blu-Ray.

A spectacular performance ruined by puritanical censors obsessed with protecting us from hearing words we hear every day of our lives.
