We already got the shocking, NO-WAY! reveal in Rolling Stone — American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert is gay. Still, as Chris Connolly points out in the video embedded here, last night on 20/20 was the first time he talked about it on TV. Oh! Well that is an event. The seven-plus-minute segment didn't unearth much — he's gay, he didn't want to put it all out there during the Idol competition, he played dress-up as a kid. There is a sentimental-piano-backed moment where his mom lovingly and casually talks about supporting her son throughout his life. I guess if I had to pick one highlight from the interview, it was the moment he provided hope for all the swooning tween girls unbothered by the fact that Adam likes boys: "I wouldn't ever give myself the label bisexual, but bi-ciurous, yeah. I've been known to make out with girls from time to time. Couple drinks invovled, you know, it's fun. And who knows, maybe it'll go further someday, I dunno. Who's the lucky woman…" Keep those gals-a-gushin'. Smart move, Glambert.

I saw him at the today show and he is even more beautiful in person.. although if he doesnt stop cutting and messing with his hair .. I am going to riot!! Right there with all you straight, female NON-tweens who think that Adam is the sexiest thing to come on the scene in eons (not to mention crazy-talented, bright, articulate, charming, funny, well-mannered…). Notice none of this female adoration has diminished one iota with the confirmation of Adam being gay (I mean, really, who DIDN’T know that before?). So to what can one attribute this interesting phenomenon? I think Adam summed it up perfectly in his 20/20 interview: “Sexy is sexy.”
I don’t think Adam is bi just because of this interview. We should leave him alone already.No more speculating. Even if he is bi he’s primarily gay-so he may have a girl here and there {but not for serious relationship} maybe to have baby as well. He’s still gay.
I’m 54 & my beautiful blonde daughter is 19, & we both picked Adam to be the AI winner from the beginning. Thru the weeks, we grew crazier for him. We think he is so talented, adorable & hot! What stage presence & charisma! So what if he’s gay, we are HUGE fans & get goosebumps from him – LOL! Adam is right, sexy is sexy. Pretty cool that he can turn on the whole audience, no matter what sex or age they are! We love you Adam! Can’t wait to buy your first CD & see you live in concert too!
Adam may be a little bi but he’s mostly gay. He may have girl here and there but not for relationship-for baby yeah.

Why do I get the feeling EW is pissed at Adam? Is it because he is overshadowing Kris and Allison, or that Adam didn’t give them the interview stating he’s gay? Either way, EW- you know Adam is a hot commodity- can we focus on the music now? Do you think all his fans want to hear about is his sexual preference? You are totallly missing the point about his buzz.
I am glad that Adam’s mother was on the 20/20 interview discussing Adam coming out to her because it showed something very important: Adam, despite his own teen struggles with coming out, was clearly raised by parents for whom being gay was a non-issue – rather it was their child’s happiness and his ability to live his own truth. Her hesitancy with bringing it up sooner wasn’t about not wanting to know because something was “wrong,” but rather respect for her son’s privacy. The well-adjusted, delightful, respectful Adam is clearly the product of parents who loved him no matter what, and who wanted only his happiness and peace. Let this be a lesson to parents everywhere.
When is the media going to move on? I don’t want to hear about Adams sex life anymore, I want to hear about his album etc..
So he kissed a girl, but did he like it? That is the question…

It was great to see Adam on TV last night. I’m still going through withdrawals of not being able to see him on American Idol each week. Running out today to get my copy of Rolling Stone. Adam is such a talent and cannot wait to see what he does next. Also looking forward to seeing him in Atlantic City in August.
I am a mother of a gay child and knew that he was gay from the time he was a young child. I also gave him the time to come to terms with it and come out when he decided it was right for him. As parents my ex-husband and I always supported him for who he was and never questioned our loyalty and love for our youngest child. He is the most loving and caring of all of our children and he is also very open about his life. He too had a rough time in school and had his heart broken a few times, but happily he is now in a relationship with a young man the I truly love. I am so glad that he has found happiness and I hope Adam finds the same happiness some day. He deserves all that is coming to him, a great career as a recording artist and all that comes with that!!! He will be a star and will have longevity!!!
I don’t know if my last comment was posted but just wanted to say that I was glad to see Adam on 20/20 last night. Now that he has admitted to being gay why doesn’t everyone just concentrate on his career. It’s about the music and nothing more. I miss seeing him each week on TV…going through withdrawals. Anyway – I get why people are interested in his sexuality – it’s part of who he is and he’s an interesting and charismatic performer, but I ‘d rather the focus be on his plans and music.
First off, thank you entertainment weekly for this article and to 20/20 for an amazing interview. It was also nice getting to see Adam’s mom speak.
In reference to Adam’s “sexuality” I am a straight female and I have kissed a girl and I liked it. It is possibly to enjoy “kissing” a “hot” person of the same or opposite sex.. that does not even make me bi. It has never went, nor will it ever go any further than that and like Adam, I was drunk at the time. It is cute that he tries to give women “hope” but he will always “prefer” men to women. With that said, I would make out with Adam Lambert any time I could regardless of whether it would end up in a relationship or not! Kissing is fun! Anyway, can not wait until the new album comes out. And on a seperate note, Gene Simmons is probably somewhat disturbed with the fact so many straight women can be in love with a gay man. WE love him for what he does to us mentally, emotionally and spiritually.. it isnt always about sex!
Ditto above. I knew my boy was gay early one. Dad, very conservative, stepped up and quickly came to terms with it. (What a great father!) Our son is well adjusted. abeit not without harrassment. He is strong and has great courage and just won a national award for his leadership with other struggling gay youth. We are Episcopal and are tyring to come out as parents in our parish! We need support as parents! Please love your children unconditionally. Thei sexual orientation is part of them. You can’t love the sinner and hate the sin! You must embrace them. I know GOD made my son for a purpose and he is being called by Him. Again, love this kids! Our son tried so hard to be straight, but that isn’t the way God made him. Join PFLAG- there are many Christian parents also in the closet struggling and they will help- more than your congregation.

I’m a weird way, you can compare Adam to Susan Boyle.
Both were the favourites going into the Finals, both were having most of the media coverage, and almost everyone was giving the crown to them.
But they both lost. Did they really lose though? I have no doubt that both Adam and Susan will outsell their winners.
By the way, EW is also both obsessed with both.
