Really? I'm not sure why I'm surprised exactly, but ratings agency Eurodata TV Worldwide announced that Fox's medical drama House was the most-watched show in the whole wide world last year, with more than 81.8 million viewers in 66 countries. Those numbers smoked previous years' winners CSI and CSI: Miami. It makes sense to me that the CSI dramas would triumph — the flashy, yet straightforward whodunits don't need all that much translating. (And David Caruso's sunglassed scowl is an international language in and of itself.) But I would've guessed Hugh Laurie's caustic caregiver would be a tougher case. What do you think: Does House's win surprise you? Or does it make sense that he's a doctor without borders?

Well that’s depressing. I guess it’s good that it’s not American Idol.
I´m from Germany – and No it doesn´t.
Since I know how many people in France watch – NO,not at all.
I know the show is REALLY popular in France. I went there on a school trip a few months ago, and they had the seasons in almost every book/video shop.
Well, it’s on about 6000 times a day, so it probably just won by sheer volume.
While its a great show there are two reasons I would find this surprising.
1. House has become stale. 5 seasons of the SAME thing. Only towards the end of this latest season did things change. I have been a HUGE fan of Hugh Laurie ever since his Fry and Laurie, but thats practically the only reason I watch the show!
2. How can you translate Hugh’s wit and charm??
I love DR House. I am not surprise. I am getting ready to watch the last episode tonight!
Have you seen House Bloopers and an alternate take between cuddy and cameron? Really funny!

I love House, but this season was brutal. Hopefully they get back to basics next season.
By the way I would love to hear house in other languages lol

Definitely not a surprise! House is the #1 foreign show in Brazil!
Its funny you all mention France, because that’s where I noticed it as well. In our Paris hotel room, relaxing at night watching TV in French every other advertisement was for ‘DOCTOR HOUSE’ (which my husband and I still like to call it.) Though, to be fair there were quite a few CSI adverts too. I think we may have actually watched CSI but House wasn’t on the night we were there.
This doesn’t surprise me at all.
I love House. It’s my favorite show so I’m not surprised at all.
i’m not really suprised i mean i lived in morocco and france and in these two countries house is a very popular show
“House” is a well-written show and, while ironic, the title character is very endearing, not to mention extraordinarily played by the great Hugh Laurie.
It’s consistently been one of the most watched shows on basic cable down here in Latin America since it premiered in 2004, so it doesn’t really surprise me that the rest of the world follows trend.
Now, why would you find it depressing, IZIKAVAZO?
WOOOOHHHHH!!! Go HOUSE!!! It totally deserves it!
Considering it runs on USA pretty much every second, and even though I’ve seen all the episodes I’m still sucked in by the re-runs, no surprises that House is the top winner. Plus, how can someone resist the British-turned-tortured charm of Hugh Laurie? Guy can act!
