We know one person who must be happy that David Letterman is nearing a deal with CBS to extend The Late Show through the 2011-12 season: Howard Stern. On last night's Late Show, the Sirius Radio star respectfully thanked Letterman for putting him on the map in the first place, but then totally ripped on Jay Leno in a rather uncomfortable (especially if you were Dave) segment. After an unsuccessful first attempt at bringing up the current late-night Conan vs. Letterman war, Stern piped up again (at about 4:20 in the video below) to let everyone know just how much he can't stand Leno. "I've never seen anybody who behaves like a robot like this guy," said Stern, critiquing the way Leno appeared to be reading from a teleprompter during his final Tonight Show. "Where's the emotion? Where's the humanity?" [Gestures to Dave] "Here's the host we wanna watch!" Then he did a little dance. What a fun, sexy time for all of us!

You have to remember who is making the remarks about Leno. Stern is programed to be constantly offensive and has never been funny.

Howard Stern…remind me why anybody listens to this guy. His 15 minutes of fame were up about five years ago. What a jerk. The guy who impersonated him on “MadTV” was a better Howard Stern than the real one.

Stern has he just want do it in public so Jay Leno can capitalize on the ratings that a Stern appearance will bring, think about it that way, when Dave came back from his heart bypass Jay had Stern on to compete against him taht night because draws an audiuence, so its fine if you don’t like Stern but give him credit too
Tony, you’re another one. Stern HAS confronted Leno. I wonder what would the face to face confrontation accomplish? Talk about a coward… Jay hid in a closet to eavesdrop on the executives to get the job. I wonder where he got the idea for Jay Walking? He got it from Stern! Oh, & that’s another thing Stern confronted Jay about to which Jay reacted like a spineless jerk.
Stern is the hippest show most of you aren’t listening to.

Leno is a coward and a thief- and unfunny and apparently a deviant. He’s sneaky. Howard is full on funny smart and fearless. Any of y ou who don;t get him are stupid tools!

Cry all you want about Stern’s comments, but they are entirely true.
Prior to Leno getting the Tonight show, Letterman was the popular choice to take over for Carson. NBC goofed and gave the show to Leno. If Stern was really a “tool” he would have gone for the low blow and trashed Conan as well. But none of Stern’s comments here are really directed at Conan, it’s all at Leno.
Also, I’m surprised Stern didn’t bring up how much of a slimy move it was of Leno to leave the Tonight Show and then turn around and con NBC into creating a pre-TonightShow for him. A very nasty thing to do to Conan…

that one segment was funnier than any segment from the entire run of the LENO TONIGHT SHOW. Dave and Howard are both much funnier and more talented than Leno could ever hope to be. Leno should never have been allowed to take over for the late great Johnny Carson and I hope his new show fails.

Howard Stern is a cruel and mean-spirited person. A long time ago, I was listening to him doing a number on a gentleman telling him he had just written a hit song, when on the air he was saying what an idiot the guy was. The guy was believing Howard and was all excited. That was the last time I ever listened to Howard, I thought he was such a jerk. It may have been a “prank” but it was cruel.

The real “tool” here is Leno. He leaves the Tonight Show only to con NBC into giving him a new pre-Tonight Show. If anyone should truly be upset it’s Conan.
