altho i love gore (and believe me i love it, theres not enuf for me) not every horror movie needs to hv blood and gore to be good. the ring is one of my fave movies just cause it scared the hell outta me! i love all kinds of horror movies, and not every horror fan has to hv blood and gore to be satisfied. that being sd a horror movie without blood and gore has got to mk up for it somehow.

no matter how good it was review all you have to say is pg-13, horror has to be rated r

Simple, as many have already said, it was PG-13…

Yeah, well, DAN – according to Mr. Glieberman, that’s apparently all we deserve. I’ve never read such a facile, condescending, insulting, flat-out WRONG assessment of horror movie fans in my life. We tend to get a bad enough rap as gore-seeking simpletons as it is, we don’t need snotbag “critics” like Glieberman blaming fans for lacking the insight to see all the wonderful things about this movie that are, well, just so OBVIOUS to him. It’s very simple: it doesn’t matter when the movie opens, what it’s rated, or who’s in it. If it’s a good movie, people will go see it.

Yeah, the reason why this movie has a luckluster showing is because the American audience are living their own horror movie with the Po-bama administration in power. Talk about dragging a country to hell…

PG-13 was started because of Temple of Doom. Worst mistake for movies in a long time. Also, these studios release too many “blockbusters” too close together. They ought to take some of these and release them later in the Summer.

It was the trailer…It just STUNK. Add to that the PG13 rating and the thought of a bunch of kids in the audience I had no want to go see it. Even as much as I love Sam’s work. I had know idea was closer to Army of Darkness. I can’t wait to rent it.

It’s pitiful that people don’t see the movie simply due to the PG-13 rating. There is so much more to a good horror film than blood and guts. So many horror films are focused soley on blood and guts, and lack everything else. I for one, was more than happy to see a horror film that was actually a good film. I typically rent horror movies these days, rather than waste money on them at the theater. Drag Me To Hell was well worth the money.

I refuse to see a vast majority of PG-13 movies. There are some movies, like Star Trek or Land of the Lost that are naturally going to get a PG-13 and that is cool, but movies that are forced down so more people can see them are always crap. I hate the chop jobs they do. I understand they want to make money, I just refuse to give them my money for making crap movies.

Not sure you proved the PG-13 rating was responsible for low numbers. Seems more of a timing/marketing thing to me: Summer fare is lighter/escapist stuff…especially THIS summer. The current bump in movie sales seems hinged on the escapist appeal. ‘The hangover’ ‘star trek’ ‘the proposal’ are quite far removed from anything scary… Also the marketing was very murky on this one. Ambiguous posters/ads, plus positive movie reviews, then of course PG-13. I think moviegoers were confused as to what they were seeing. Was it a slasher? satire? high-brow/low-brow? fun, scary silly?
    what was it?
Not marketed well and poorly timed – that’s what it was!

This movie was great. If it’s true the PG-13 is the reason for the lack of ticket sales, it would be smart to re-release as the uncut version and advertise on tv, add the F word every once in awhile to give it an R. Even tho it is PG-13, still great.
