I watched this at a birthday party (parents would let me stay for sleepover) in the late 80s. I really hope that this does not get re-made. It is a perfect gem and nothing can top. I love Dancing in Heaven – have two versions on my iPod and when I play it, it always puts me in a good mood!
I’m just waiting for the announcements of the planned reboots/remakes of Just One of the Guys and Night of the Comet. I know they are coming because the 80s Hollywood revival seems to know no bounds.
Didn’t Just One of the Guys already get remade? What was that Amanda Bynes movie where she dresses up like a boy?
Yes, it was kind of a remake. Only I think she did it to play sports or something, rather than being taken seriously as a writer like in the original. So basically, they ruined it.

Girls Just Want to have Fun is a masterpiece of cheesy 80′s fun along with Real Genius and Troop Beverly Hills. Not Emmy or Oscar worthy but fluffy. I LOVE Girls Just Want to Have Fun. It’s my most favorite movie. I have the DVD.
The idea that Shannon Daughtery, Helen Hunt and Sarah Jessica Parker and even Jonathan Silverman was in it. OMG. It was a such a perfect cheese fluff.
I just can’t see the good this makes. Although it is nice to think it is though of for a remake. I am worried. But I guess in the era of Dance and Idol popular shows. Shows like Fame and this kind of movie is prime for a remake.

the WORST possible thing they can do is make this a ghetto movie… the corny 80s dance moves and feel good attitude is a must for this movie and that doesnt exist today.
