'Pushing Daisies' is back tomorrow: Let's all watch! And who's bringing the pie?

Pushingdaisiesreturns_lPie-hards, listen up: After many miserable months off the air, ABC is finally lifting the veil on the last three episodes of our beloved Pushing Daisies, beginning with Saturday night’s episode, "Window Dressed to Kill." Last we saw of the gang, Olive was going undercover with a Norwegian detective agency and Ned’s father made a mysterious and maddeningly brief cameo. David Arquette is slated to return for tomorrow night’s episode, reportedly to romance one Olive Snook. Can’t. Wait.

I don’t know about any of you, but it is baffling why it has taken ABC this long to run these episodes. Before it got yanked off the air in December, the show had really built up momentum, and promised answers to some of the series’ long-standing mysteries (Ned’s father, Emerson’s daughter, and Vivian finally learning Lily is Chuck’s mother, to name a few). Canceling the show was hard enough, but to not give fans the courtesy of finishing out the series is near-unforgivable. The show is assuredly long-gone, and no touch from a magical piemaker is going to bring it back, but at least we can take solace in watching it (or setting our DVRs) for the next three Saturday nights. And, of course, subsequently buy the season 2 DVD in July. After that, Pushing Daisies can take a grave alongside Freaks and Geeks and Arrested Development as the only shows whose cancellation made me physically ill. The lone show I’ve seen since that can possibly capture Daisies‘ ingenuity and sense of wonderment is Glee, but even that’s a stretch.

Anyhow, I digress. Are you planning on watching tomorrow night, PopWatchers? Do you also hope the show gets some much-deserved Emmy love? (It better!) And, because it simply cannot be said enough, how much does it truly suck that ABC pulled the plug on this show? I fear watching it all over again will just re-open those old wounds.

I’ll be DVRing and hoping I don’t burst into tears while watching the last 3 shows. ABC is dead to me.

I’m counting down the minutes. I totally need a Daisies fix. I’ll be cursing ABC for canceling it while I laugh till my sides hurt. Glad Chenoweth will be on Glee this fall, even if only to guest star; I miss Olive (and, well, all of the Pie Hole crew).

Unfortunately it’s not airing in Seattle tomorrow night because it’s preempted by a Children’s Miracle Network Telethon. I can still be upset about it even though it’s for a good cause right?

YES, YES, YES I will be watching!! I was so Fing mad when ABC cancelled the show- I thought it was one of the MOST ORIGINAL scripted shows out there at the time. So glad I decided to “POP” in (ya like that?) today and find out this news.

Oh I’m both really looking forward to it and really dreading it because after these 3, no more Pushing Daisies :( So conflicted!

I’ve got a pie handy and am already counting down the minutes til tomorrow’s episode. It will be heartbreaking to watch these final three, but at least ABC is airing them. Emmy better show some love and other than Lost ABC is dead to me, too. Chenoweth on Glee is genius! Maybe we’ll get one more Olive-inspired song from her on PD.

Will I be watching it? Is Aunt Vivian the best aunt ever? Is the prospect of David Arquette’s taxidermist wooing Olive Snook delicious? Is Lee Pace adorable? Does this show deserve Emmys? The answer is yes to all of them.

    Crap! I forgot Lily.

I can’t wait to get me some Daisies love! I’m sure to be sniffling at the end of this episode, ’cause I know it will definitely open the ol’ Cancellation wounds again.

Three more episodes to swoon over Ned’s adorable acid reflux, Chuck’s envious wardrobe, Emerson saying ‘oh hell no,’ Aunt Lily being awesome, Vivian being sweet and Olive being the ‘itty bitty’

Yeah, if it weren’t for Lost, ABC would’ve lost me when they canceled Pushing Daisies. Bad move ABC, bad move.

I know exactly what you mean. After the cancellation announcement, I was given Season One on DVD as a gift. I popped in the Pie-lette and by the end, my stomach was in knots with how upset I was it had been canceled. I’m glad ABC is at least showing the final three episodes. Fans of Wonderfalls never even got that (although the unshown eps showed up on the DVD). I hope EW keeps us posted on any future PD projects, such as the contemplated continuation via comic book. Who knows, they may even do a PD movie some day, like they did with Dead Like Me. I can dream, can’t I?

  • Bye Bye ABC

The final 3 episodes have already aired in other countries. They can easily be found on the internet.
I’m not encouraging piracy, but I’m also not interested in supporting ABC in any way.
I stopped watching ABC when Pushing Daisies was canceled. Screw ‘em.
(Oh, and the final 3 episodes are as great as you’d expect from Pushing Daisies – though they will leave you wanting more…) :)

I’m there to the bitter end, but like with “Dead Like Me”, I don’t understand why these shows are not still around. I guess too many idiots like reality shows…viewers and network execs included.

I’m actually glad that ABC decided to wait so long before airing the episodes. If the network decided to show them with the rest of the season, I would have been anxious over whether or not the PD was cancelled and wouldn’t fully enjoy the episodes. Now, I can appreciate them for what they are, like the last bite of one of Ned’s pies.
