Now that you’ve voted on your favorite summer reality show, let’s talk about scripted TV. Yes, that does exist in the summer, but you’ll have to venture into cable to find it. There’s the Jeffrey Donovan-led Burn Notice on USA (returning June 4); Kyra Sedgwick in TNT’s The Closer (June 8); HBO’s vampire saga True Blood (June 14); Showtime’s venerable comic-drama Weeds (June
and, finally, AMC’s Mad Men, a.k.a. pretty much the best show on television. But AMC is making us wait until August this time around. Boo. Anyhow, that’s a not-too-shabby list. True Blood. Am truly hooked. While I really like Mad Men (and it remains me of summer since I started watching it last July while in P-Town) it loses points for starting to late in the season.
Why does the must scripted show have to be a drama? One of the best shows out there during the summer is Psych. Hilarious in every sense of the word!
Psych and Eureka.
Mad Men!! I can’t believe we have to wait until August!
Mad Men and Law & Order:CI
Burn Notice all the way. The smartest, funniest, most enjoyable show on TV, cable or otherwise (especially now that Life has been cancelled).
you forgot the final season of Monk and Leverage
What, no Army Wives? That’s the show I most look forward to all year!
Probably about the only scripted show I’m going to watch is, sadly, “The Secret Life of the American Teenager.” But I wouldn’t suggest that one for Must List, so I’m just going to go back to my corner now.
Gotta add my confusion over Psych being omitted from this list. It’s the only scripted show I actually look forward to each summer.
True Blood! Definitely the most, ah, HUMID show on TV.
I’ve been re-watching Season 1 of Mad Men in prep for this. I watch and love a lot of TV, but Mad Men is easily the most risky and mature show on television, and I’m not even talking about content. It’s all about mise-en-scene, style, pacing (slow and steady won the hell out of the race).
I love all of these shows, but the decision was easy- TRUE BLOOD. It’s so crazy and exciting that you always want more. And, oh yeah, it’s kinda hot too…
What about “The Listener” on NBC? It’s shaping up to be a great show… find an exclusive trailer at areyoursecretssafe.com
I am going to say I love True Blood. I read all the books to the Sookie Stackhouse Series so I am really excited to see what’s in store for Season 2!
