Medium jumping ship to CBS makes so much sense it’s scary. Read the full post.
On CBS, I watch NCIS faithfully and nothing else regularly. On NBC, I like look forward to Chuck and sometimes what Southland. On ABC, I watch Castle, Ugly Betty, Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice. On Fox I watch Bones and sometimes House. SciFi whenever Eureka is on. And USA for Psych, Burn Notice and In Plain Sight. And then various shows on PBS for about 4-6 hours a week.
So I don’t think I have a network. And after writing this I’ve decided I watch too much television.
Well, Medium will be the first and only show I’ll watch on CBS! Toos bad it didn’t jump ship to Fox. I could then cuddle up with Fringe, 24, and Medium! Ooooh, all the couch potato moments… sweeeeet. I love Medium. I hope it doesn’t get yanked.
I’m old enough to have been a fithful watcher of ABC ever since the days of the black and white version of The Outer Limits. ABC always took chances– what other network would’ve rolled the dice on a British spy show like The Avengers? (NBC and CBS followed with their own British imports.)
ABC had the campiness of Batman, the wackiness of The Addams Family and all the best Quinn Martin shows like 12 O’Clock High and The Fugitive. Even in the sixties, ABC canceled shows right and left– but that was back when you had three networks and sometimes an independent station to watch.
I find it amusing that ABC is taken to task for doing what they’ve always done. After all, I still want to know if David Vincent was able to convince enough people that the Invaders were coming.
While a devoted fan of both The Office and 30Rock, I’d have to say I’m a CBS person. NCIS, HIMYM, now Medium… I kinda have more respect for CBS. Growing up I definitely thought of it as the “old” network, but I’m a 25 year old liberal female, so obviously their demographic has widened.
I watch so much CBS you’d think I owned stock in it. I pretty much watch or DVR nearly every show on CBS. But, being 50 years old and that being (supposedly) how the network skews, its no wonder. But true entertainment isn’t about who watches but that many people watch. You hear that you 18-49 snobs? CBS IS the most watched network but not by that supposedly all important 18-49 crowd. Those of us who’ve been around the block a few more times know entrtainment when we see. Hence the great ratings for CBS!
I think my tv watching is evenly split amongst all the networks and a few of the cablers. I am especially looking forward to two new shows, Hawthorne and Royal Pains. I love Jada Pinkett Smith and Mark Feuerstein is also great to watch.
I’m not sure I aheva network, it’s probably a tossup between CBS and CW though. I love me some HIMYM BBT and ANTM.
NBC cancelled their best drama for JAY LAMO?????? What is wrong with this picture!!!!!!!
I watch HIMYM on CBS, and have heard so much positive buzz on “Big Bang” that I intend to give it a test run at some point. Overall, I always thought of myself as an NBC person (through high school it was all I watched, with Fox on Sundays) until 24 and LOST broke me out of the mold. I have a show here and there on each network now, but I would definitely say I’m a show follower and not a network guy anymore.
I’m a sucker for soapy dramas, young people, and also animated comedies. So for me I am more of an ABC kinda guy (from My So Called Life, Once and Again, to Lost, DH, Betty, Greys and B&S), sometimes Fox (all their animated comedies, Malcom, their 90s soaps) and I was unashamed in my support of The WB (Dawsons briefly, Felicity, Everwood, Gilmore Girls).
CBS, my parents and sisters love those shows, I will watch them, but never are they worth recording on my DVR since I love serials. I have a soft spot for CBS soaps though!
I’m definitely a “show girl.” I watch a number of different shows on NBC, ABC, FOX and The CW. The only network that I can’t seem to get behind is CBS. None of their programming appeals to me. The sitcoms and procedurals seem to standard, and the last time I gave a crap about Survivor was when Elizabeth Hasselbeck was on. It just doesn’t seem “fresh” enough for me, but I’m 21, so that’s probably to be expected.
I am most faithful to NBC when considering my favorite shows historically, and taking into account morning and evening news. NBC first with “Today”, with the local evening news affiliate, and historically with favorite shows like Seinfeld, ER, Friends, Frasier, Quantum Leap, Wings, Chuck, Heroes, the list goes on.
The only show my husband and I watch on CBS is The Mentalist.Otherwise we watch NBC the most, several shows on fox and hardly anything on ABC (I think we are both still bitter about Pushing Daisies). I still don’t understand the decision of putting Jay Leno on primetime, but we have been pleased that FNL and Chuck have been renewed (even as mid season replacements).
Love reading all ur comments. I mostly watch abc DH, Greys, Ugly Betty, and PP. God I miss Dirty Sexy Money! Since ER is over the only show on nbc I watch is 30Rock. I dont watch cbs at all. I also LOVE Mad Men AMC is my hero for making this gem. Also Big love on HBO. I did watch the game on cw but they cancelled it. Also cant wait for Army Wives to start. oh n i love BBCs Mistresses its my new show of the yr.
This post made me realize that the only three network shows I really make a point to watch: House, 24, and Fringe all appear on Fox. Though I’m not sure how I feel about “my network” being the same one that also airs the Singing Show That Shall Not Be Named.
