I wholeheartedly agree with Sarah.
I hate that Summit is playing up this annoying, non-existent triangle angle. There was never a single moment that Bella actually considers leaving Edward for that abusive shitehead, Jacob. Not once. He should be in the background of this poster. The theme for New Moon, according to Stephenie Meyer, is Romeo and Juliet, and if I recall my ninth grade English class at all, there was never a roided-out arsehall standing in between Romeo and Juliet. This poster sucks.
What eclipse? They are showing a moon, as in New Moon, maybe. Jeez.
“Suddenly, I remembered that New Moon is a battle between a boy and a man — not just a wolf and a vampire — for Bella’s affections.”
TRY AGAIN!
new Moon was never about a competition. It’s about Bella yearning for her lost love, and Jacob becoming her best friend. She never once loves him, heck in fact she can’t even bring herself to try…she knows her heart is capable of more. And even in Eclipse, when Jacob worms his way into her relationship with Edward, even then it’s not enough. So I think when the girl has her mind set and knows which guy she wants forever, there is NO competition. There is no love triangle. This poster fails.
Why are people saying the poster needs less Jacob, if I remember what I read, Jacob plays a bigger part in New Moon than Edward does, Twilight was about establishing Bella/Edward’s relationship while as New Moon is mostly about establishing Bella/Jacob’s relationship. To convey that concept, you need a Jacob.
Thank you, Mandi, you always come through for us!! Forget Robwatchers, there are now legions of “mandiwatchers”!!
Sarah…I don’t know about you, but I just remember Bella constantly mourning for Edward, even after a full day of hanging with Jacob in a dirty gargare.
New Moon is about Bella’s depression and her heartbreak…it isn’t about Jacob trying to force her from her soulmate.
They got it all wrong. They’re gonna ruin Edward and Bella, I can tell already. I’d rather just remember the books (while still trying to ignore Jacob’s annoying presence) than watch Summit ruin the couple I love. I don’t think I’m going to watch this movie, not if this is their vision for it. Edward should look sad. So should Bella. Jacob should be with the trees in the background.
Why is Bella not at least LOOKING at Edward? Wouldn’t that convey the point a little better? Who photographed this mess?
Whether or not you agree with the fact that Jacob ever had a chance with Bella or if she loved him is beside the point. New Moon is based on Bella and Jacob’s relationship. Edward is in it at the beginning and end. Therefore, Jacob should be in the freaking movie poster. The poster is awesome. It should make everyone happy because Edward and Jacob are both on it. Edward looks great, Jacob looks great. Everybody be happy.
You have to find a bigger clearer picture of the poster to see the Eclipse. check out newmoonmovie.org and scroll down to the real poster (not the photoshopped fan made one) and the eclipse is painfully obvious. I’m not saying not to show Jacob he is a prominant role in NM, something like Bella alone in the forest with Jacob in the background would be good. To everyone afraid Summit is ruining NM and Team Edward, Chris Weitz made the statement that he alwasy veiwed the Twilight Saga as Edward and Bella’s love story and that Jacob would always be nothing more than Bella’s friend. I know that will incite the wrath of Team Jacob fans but it is true. If you’ve followed this movie as closely as I have you’d know that turning this movie into Bella mooning over Jacob is not going to happen.
Heather you are preaching to an empty choir. You make sense to me but I think we might be the only ones who aren’t blinded by fangirl common sense (<- that is an oxymoron isn't it?)
No complaints! Taylor Lautner’s bicep probably makes this poster work the most for me.
It makes it look like Bella is not even interested in Edward, and like she and Jacob are the ones actually dating, and like they’re dissing poor Edward. This is the worst movie poster ever made. It doesn’t even convey the plot properly, not for Edward and Bella anyway. Maybe for that dooooshbag Jacob it does, but that’s about it. Edward should not look pissed and jealous. And Bella should not look like an over-medicated Abercrombie and Fitch model. She should look sad, and lonely. Awful, awful, awful. I would never buy this in a million years. The poster for Twilight was better. It may not have been aesthetically perfect but at least it represented the film.
Ok, Nerwen, I stand corrected. There is an eclipse. And I agree with you about Jacob.
