Eminem on 'Kimmel': Partying with the pink-slipped

Man, this guy is complicated. One minute Eminem is calling Moby a gay slur, the next he’s phoning Elton John to get support as he kicks his pill habit. But give him consistency points on one thing: He clearly loves Michigan.

The rapper, who’s collecting nice reviews for his new album, Relapse, flew an audience full of unemployed Michigan auto workers to Jimmy Kimmel Live last night to watch him perform "We Made You." Then he invited the whole car lot to his release party — talk about a solidly decent thing to do. Kimmel’s interview with the real Marshall Mathers (still sporting the natural brunette coif) was vaguely interesting (we all knew he read his reviews, right?), but better was the performance. Don’t get me wrong, I love Shady on my iPod, but I haven’t always been impressed with his concert style. Last night he stepped it up, appearing more dynamic and engaged with the music. Check it out for yourself:

But what did y’all think? Are you rushing out for Relapse? Is that collection of Eminem lullabies weird, or what? And about Kimmel’s other guest Mike Tyson: Who thinks the boxer’s wish for Jamie Foxx to play him in a movie is a good idea (or does the controversial boxer not deserve biopic treatment)? You tell me.

Alynda, after our Trump/Prejean back-and-forth earlier this week, I’ve been excitedly waiting to see your name on some terrific scoop on PopWatch. Sadly, you got Eminem. Though I am not a huge fan, I love what he did on Kimmel.

  • Seriously?

Looking forward to Relapse more than anything! Em is a genius…..

Rob Tyson! Hi! Are we friends now? I want to be friends. I liked him on Kimmel, too. One question though: Is he always that grim looking? The guy never seems to crack a smile.

I noticed that Eminem has changed so much (it has been 5 years?) Besides his dressing attire has changed (less baggy clothes). So much has happened in his life and while I was watching his interview, he seemed so tense. He carried this aura that I can’t pinpoint, it’s a heavy aura of a man who as been through a lot. He barely cracks a smile nowadays.

I used to love Eminem. A lot. Then he just kind of kept doing the same stuff over and over, and it wasn’t funny anymore. He became annoying. While I appreciate what he did for the Michigan peeps, I just think the song is really lame. It’s like you are how old? You are really still singing about popstars like Jessica Simpson?? Really Eminem, Really? He seriously needs to regroup and step up his game because I am no longer impressed.

Lea…Have you heard the new album Relapse?,,LYRICAL GENIOUS!!!!,,, Eminem is by far teh best rapper in the game… No rapper in his right mind would challenge Eminem to a battle,, they would get humiliated and their careers would end,,, Eminem is the greatest…HOLLA

Just out of curiosity, Sere, when did he ever crack a smile before? I’ve never seen it.

Moby’s so politically correct, and enlightend, it’s hard not to dislike him. As for Eminem, he likes to talk tough but under that typical rapper machismo is a decent human being.

I’ve been watching We Made You on YouTube since it was first posted! Love it! After this week’s disappointing Green Day album, I’m looking to cleanse my palate with Relapse next week! (And more Eminem on Kimmel Tuesday night!)

I think both M & M and Tyson the snake should be put set adrift and become lovers. The world is much better without them both.

Somehow I doubt some of those honeys in the front row are unemployed auto workers.
I do love that song though.

the best rapper alive! cant wait for the new album!

What? You’ve never like his “concert style”!? You must be crazy, because that’s the best thing about Eminem–he is awesome live, whether it be on award shows or in front of 50,000 people. Unlike Kanye (doesn’t sound like the records), Jay-Z (not engaging enough) and others.
    This was a great performance.

That’s a nice song…I’m not a Em fan because his voice is grating…but how come he’s dueting with a black guy? As if he needs support?
